I have used a couple. For most uses you actually don't need an active cable. I've used both a 6' passive cable from Plugable and a 6' active cable from Startech.
I have a 4k monitor connected and a variety of peripherals. For most normal use there is no performance difference between the two cables.
Bought 2m active TB3 cable from StarTech for ~$75 a year or two ago.
Works great on my Razer Core V1.
I don't think it makes a difference, but I've found it hard to find a longer cable with 40gbps. Especially here in Denmark, where most amazon sellers don't send to!

I bookmarked a few:
All 2 metres (6 feet) at 40 Gbps. Seems like better value? Never liked Apple cables if I have a choice.
The Apple one is half the length at US$43.
