It has the smaller firewire port which is exactly that I currently use on my Thinkpad.

As for speed I tried to do some calculations. I am transferring a mini DV tape which has 12 Gb of footage in about 1 hour. If I calculate correctly (1210248/3600) then this means that the speed is roughly 27Mbs and so 400 Mbps would be more than enough.
