I would just leave the cable box inside, put a splitter on its output and run coax outside, you can control the cable box by getting a wireless IR repeater.

Otherwise, for outdoor Ethernet, you'd get outdoor rated wire, run it to a weatherproof junction box and plug in there. Actually coax needs that too, but an IR repeater will make it so you don't have to move the cable box as well.
