There's actually a huge body of research suggesting both of these points are wrong. Check out Susan Pinker's The Sexual Paradox. A basic summary that wouldn't be doing Pinker justice is that women aren't that high up in the corporate ladder simply because they don't want to be and (a lot of the time) can't. They complete graduate degrees much more often and much more effectively than men and are given considerably good opportunity in business, but they lean towards careers centered towards human welfare/healthcare and they're preoccupied with children. It would be remarkably hard to give this nuanced of an answer to this question in 30 seconds though, and nobody likes to hear that women are actually given more opportunity than men...
