I live in Miami, so this is a familiar issue for me. I bought two Thermos Bottles and have been happy with the results. While I find it incredibly hard to believe that five hours later the Texas guy had ice (or water for that mater; was he drinking?), these will keep ice in your bottle for an hour or two, and past that, your water will remain cold, even if it doesn't have any ice left. Down side is price, and weight, if those are issues. Either way, the bottle will weight less than the contents.

This is the one I have. Another might suite other people better but I like having a large spout to sip from and have it maintain its temperature pretty well. My gf and I started doing this about 3 years ago. I couldn't tell you how much waste we have cut down since doing this.

We use a water filter pitcher at home and I have one at work also. If you do this, make sure you only put water in the bottle and wash it about once a week. I've left iced tea in for a few days and it can get pretty rank quick. So I recommend sticking with water unless you rinse out daily with other liquids.
