That was really sweet. I know not all Republicans are Islamophobic. I used to identify as Republican, myself. But I listen to Trump and the way he talks about us. And I see Republican lawmakers giving him to criticism, even supporting him, and I feel like there is no place for me in the Republican Party anymore. And maybe that’s because it has been dragged so far to the right.
Keep fighting for civility. Thomas Jefferson was a cool dude. If you’re interested in learning about the history of Islam in early US history, I recommend “Thomas Jefferson’s Quran: Islam and the Founders” by Denise Spellberg .
I read about it in this book

If you are a business that deals with money, than you can't discriminate under civil rights. End of story.
So by saying a business can discriminate, is against the Constitution.
The big one that these people don't see, is that the US is a republic, not a democracy. And the founders made it that way because they wanted to protect the rights of the minority from the majority.
And here is what would really get the goat of the uneducated who claim this religious freedom. Jefferson was an advocate for the religious freedom amendment, because he was a lifetime fan of middle eastern culture, and had hopes of Muslims coming to the US to live one day, and wanted to protect their right to practise Islam in the US.
