The Nike Elites are probably my favorite, but I've found that [thick cushion Thorlos] (http://www.amazon.com/Thorlo-Unisex-Cushion-Running-Platinum/dp/B0009MZYDW/ref=sr_1_1?s=apparel) (they have different cushion levels so gotta make sure they are thick) are even thicker. Another option are Wrightsocks which are kinda thin, but have a double layer which is great for blisters but I don't actually like that much for playing cause I feel like I slip around in the sock.

About the R1s, I found them to have a pretty roomy toe box and not much cushioning, but very grippy so not sure if that will help or hurt.

Also, I've heard people that were really desperate about blisters talk about using duct tape, but never tried it myself.
