The N22 is kind of a waste since it's a speaker amp and your speakers are powered.

A Topping DX3 Pro is a headphone amp/DAC (no speaker amp) that has a great headphone amp and DAC. That would be a better piece of kit for you for only a little more money than the N22. https://www.amazon.com/DX3-Pro-Headphone-Amplifier-Bluetooth/dp/B07KG9P3X3

For less money than what you spent, the Audioengine D1: https://www.amazon.com/Audioengine-D1-Converter-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B006IPH5H2/r

The benefit of the better motherboard audio is only noticed when the GPU is under heavy load, producing EMI.

Do not buy a more expensive motherboard on the basis of the audio quality. An external DAC + amp will always be better.

The SoundBlasterX G6 is not a product to buy. Their products are 50% marketing wank.

Here are some examples of quality external dacs/amps:

Topping DX3

JDS Labs Element(B-stock is $50 cheaper with cosmetic imperfections)

JDS Labs Atom Amp + Topping D50 Dac

There are cheaper ones, but these are considered great in the audiophile community.

There are also soundcards but these are superior. And all you need is a USB 2.0 slot (and power outlet).

really hard to make a recommendation when you don't list a price man.

I'll just throw out what I personally own that is both dac and amp

  • FiiO K5 Pro / $150

  • Topping Dx3 Pro / $220

Now based on a recommendation from someone in this sub I purchased a THX 788 dac/amp but I'm extremely disappointed with it. Extremely noisy for almost $500. My Topping DX3 pro at more than half the price sounds WAAAY better in terms of low noise. I also own the THX AAA 789 amp / no dac and that is HIGHLY recommended but it's only an amp.

I don't think this is in your price range but I also own a Sony Signature Series Audio Component Amplifier / $2200 which I pair with my Senn 800s cans and worth every penny.

I also own separate dac amps from pretty much entire schiit line but this sub apparently has trolls against schiit. Price to performance is worth it imo but you'll get neckbeards here who will jump all over you for suggesting schiit. Also own a bunch of tube amps when I briefly caught the tube bug and was tube rolling for a bit.

I also ofc own the Beyers 770, 880, 990, and T1 2nd gens, Senns 6xx, 600, 650 and 800s, HiFiMan HE4xx & Sundaras, Philips shp9500s & Fidelio X2. The 770s are $130ish cans and it's hard to recommend anything pricy and it sounds like you just want some decent sound man. So the FiiO and Toppings are the most I would spend considering the cans you currently using.

If you get the DX3 Pro make sure you get the LDAC version. This is the v2 of the original and they fixed the big issue in the Z Review (switching between full line out and pre-out is now a separate option and not available in the output cycle) and also some quality issue that caused the unit to die prematurely.

I have the DX3 Pro LDAC and love it and yes you can do what you want. To switch between Full Line out and Pre-Out when using it in DAC mode requires you to unplug power then hold the volume wheel and apply power then navigate to the option and select full line out or pre-out. This is covered in the manual. You can no longer accidentally switch to full line out and blow your speakers on the device or remote like you could in the original.

Double pressing on the volume wheel cycles between DAC, Headphone, and DAC/Headphone at the same time. And also Bluetooth if you have it enabled. Then single pressing on the volume wheel cycles between inputs. Wish you could reverse this but you can't. I cycle between outputs more than inputs.
