TP-Link EAP245 V3 looks like the best combo of price and performance. $96.99 right now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NMZR3F1

It's significantly better than the EAP225.

Well part of this might depend on how much area or coverage your wanting to have, because Wifi routers are only allowed to have so much transmission power in the US.

You better option might be to look into installing Wifi Access Points (NOT Wifi Extenders).

Something like this:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NMZR3F1?pf_rd_p=183f5289-9dc0-416f-942e-e8f213ef368b&pf_rd_r=THKF06HAP8JFBD6JSZ0Q

And one of these would be hardwired back to your main Internet Gateway/Wifi router/Modem.

Also, who is your provider; what level of service are you paying for and have you tested the connection from a computer that is wired directly to your Wifi router to see if your getting close to the speeds your paying for?

Something like a er-x router and one of the eap245's on sale right now would probably work well. The nice thing is if you move to AX for your main router you still can use the AP later for the opposite corner of your house for better coverage. To start you can put the AP in the center and since its POE, the cable is way easier to run. No need to be limited to where you have a power outlet for your AP.

TP-Link Omada AC1750 Wireless Access Point EAP245 – Seamless Roaming, Gigabit, MU-Mimo, Beamforming, Poe Powered, Free PoE Injector, Free Managing Software, Free Facebook/SMS Registration Portal for $69.99 (Reg: $99.99) on Amazon

I'm a Ubiquiti guy myself for Access Points, but these get recommended on here often by some reliable advisers, so it's worth posting this. According to Camelx3, this is the lowest price for this EAP245 for quite some time, with average sales closer to the $85 range. So this would seem to be a good deal, based on historical patterns.

Something like this:
NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS305) - Desktop, Sturdy Metal Fanless Housing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QR6XFHQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dlEpDbDJ70CRA

And something like this:
TP-Link EAP245 V3 Wireless AC1750 MU-MIMO Gigabit Ceiling Mount Access Point, seamless roaming, Supports 802.3af PoE and Passive PoE(Injector Included) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NMZR3F1/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_dmEpDbWSY0PHE

You can go cheaper on this for sure but that would let devices take most advantage of the speed if you have new devices and fast wifi

But yeah, just a router in AP mode would work too.

Are the TPLink EAP245 AC1750 wireless access points worth getting for $69.99? Link here: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NMZR3F1/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_2?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

How do they compare to Unifi APs?

u/ThatsNASt · 1 pointr/homelab

Someone was asking about AP's earlier. Amazon has the TP-LInk OMADA on sale atm. Seems good to get $30 off.

u/modbotherer · 1 pointr/Network

Those would be fine, these APs from TP-Link are also good value.
