While I certainly don't vouch for the effectiveness of a lot of the products from the natural cures category, I have found one that (based on my own experience) works surprisingly well:

Officially, the government's position is that there has been some indication that it is effective, but more research is needed.

Oh man, twin, that sucks. My favorite "home remedy/herbal thingie" is Gypsy Cold Care tea. The link is a jumbo pack from amazon
that I totally bought because I love it for when I'm sick. It's sold in individual packs at grocery stores and probably elsewhere online. I start drinking it when I feel a cold coming on. I seriously believe it helps reduce the intensity and duration of colds. And it makes my throat/sinuses feel better when I'm drinking it. AND it tastes good. I can't deal with throat coat tea. Makes me wanna hurl. Also, I still really like Airborne for the vitamin aspect of it. And Emergen-C.
Oh, and if it's meds you're after, I stand by DayQuil liquid. It's gotta be the liquid. Shit works. The capsules are good, too, but the liquid works more efficiently (in my non-MD, completely layman's opinion).
I hope you feel better soon.
Glad you are feeling better!!
