Best value: Xiaomi Yi Dashcam ($50 USD) + Transcend Suction Mount ($10 USD) + with a decent MLC Micro SD memory card (Lexar or Transcend High endurance come highly recommended)

So this one is the cheapest dash camera I would recommend. It is cheap, but built well, and has a lithium ion battery (not really great for extremely hot climates.) It has an excellent Wide Dynamic Range - can see in shadows, 165 degree wide angle lens will fish eye slightly, and good picture quality day/night/shadow. - Also has Wifi and an App.

The only thing it lacks is a parking mode. If you want recommendations for a dash cam with a good parking mode, the price goes up, but might be worth your wild.

  • Good Parking Mode: Buffered recording, Automatically enables/disables when stopped, low power usage when in park mode, and discrete enough to not attract unwanted attention.

I have this: Transcend Pro 200 along with the MOUNT and have used it for a few weeks now. It wasn't too expensive and the best part about it to me is that it doesn't have a battery that can get messed up by the heat or cold that summer and winter could inundate it with.

I have it in the middle of my windshield and it picks up in day and night pretty well. There are a bunch of videos on youtube about it. It auto loops and comes with a micro memory card so it is plug and play. I had mine set up and running in 5 minutes.

If anyone has any questions about it I can answer them.

I don't work for them, lol.
