  • WHAT IS BETA GLUCAN AND WHY IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER IMMUNE SUPPLEMENTS? Vitamin C, D, Zinc and Elderberry help protect immune cells, but too much can cause over-stimulation. Beta-glucan sends in reinforcements (neutrophils, macrophages, and antibodies) making your immune response more robust without risking over-stimulation (Journal of Fungi, 2020).
  • WHY TAKE BETA GLUCAN? It’s “the most effective supplement for a healthy immune system” (JANA, 2016). Outperformed over 100 other Beta Glucan brands tested in double-blind, peer-reviewed, disinterested 3rd party comparative studies ("Comparison of Immunological Effects of Commercially Available β-Glucans", The University of Louisville, 2019). Made in the USA.
  • THE SCIENCE BEHIND OUR PRODUCT: Beta-glucan increases production of neutrophils, antibodies, B Cells, Natural Killer Cells, and Macrophages without risk of over-stimulation (University of Louisville, 2016). Beta-glucans can enable trained immunity (TRIM) which is when the immune system remembers previous threats it has encountered (University of Louisville, 2020).
  • HOW MUCH BETA GLUCAN SHOULD YOU TAKE? For optimal results, take 2 capsules of our Beta Glucan immune system booster (1,000 mg) per day on an empty stomach 30 minutes before eating or as directed by your healthcare professional.
  • WHO SHOULD TAKE BETA GLUCAN? Everyone with an immune system will benefit from taking Beta Glucan. Athletes who took our yeast-derived Beta Glucans experienced quicker recovery times which meant more training days and better overall athletic performance. (Journal of Medicinal Food, 2020). Those with immuno-compromisations also greatly benefit.

Glad you are getting some protection for your skin. Are you familiar with Beta Glucans (1-3)?

Effects of glucan on bone marrow:
> The extensive research studying various effects of glucans on bone marrow showed significant restoration of both lymphopenia and neutropenia. These data led to a suggestion that glucan might be widely used as radioprotectant that could mitigate the biological effects of radiation exposure both in cases of radiation accidents or in medically used irradiation. With this knowledge, it was only a question of time before researchers determined that the same effects can be also found in bone marrow suppressed by cytotoxic drugs.
>
> Taken together, the use of glucans gain another Raison d’être, as the therapeutic effects on bone marrow offered help for patients undergoing cancer treatment, either by irradiation or by chemotherapy. Despite the extensive research, only limited data are available on the mechanisms of glucan effects in irradiation or chemotherapy. However, as the bone marrow damage remains to be one of the most serious problems in cancer treatment, the pharmacologic protection against bone marrow damage is of considerable interest. From the data summarized above, it is clear that the glucans might offer an ideal solution—they are inexpensive, generally free from side effects and capable of significant protection against bone marrow damage through restoration of bone marrow cell production.

Mechanism by which orally administered beta-1,3-glucans enhance the tumoricidal activity of antitumor monoclonal antibodies in murine tumor model:.

> Orally administered beta-1,3-glucans were taken up by macrophages that transported them to spleen, lymph nodes, and bone marrow. Within the bone marrow, the macrophages degraded the large beta-1,3-glucans into smaller soluble beta-1,3-glucan fragments that were taken up by the CR3 of marginated granulocytes. These granulocytes with CR3-bound beta-1,3-glucan-fluorescein were shown to kill iC3b-opsonized tumor cells following their recruitment to a site of complement activation resembling a tumor coated with mAb.

Effects of beta-glucans on the immune system:
The healing and immunostimulating properties of mushrooms have been known for thousands of years in the Eastern countries. These mushrooms contain biologically active polysaccharides that mostly belong to group of beta-glucans. These substances increase host immune defense by activating complement system, enhancing macrophages and natural killer cell function. The induction of cellular responses by mushroom and other beta-glucans is likely to involve their specific interaction with several cell surface receptors, as complement receptor 3 (CR3; CD11b/CD18), lactosylceramide, selected scavenger receptors, and dectin-1 (betaGR). beta-Glucans also show anticarcinogenic activity. They can prevent oncogenesis due to the protective effect against potent genotoxic carcinogens. As immunostimulating agent, which acts through the activation of macrophages and NK cell cytotoxicity, beta-glucan can inhibit tumor growth in promotion stage too. Anti-angiogenesis can be one of the pathways through which beta-glucans can reduce tumor proliferation, prevent tumor metastasis. beta-Glucan as adjuvant to cancer chemotherapy and radiotherapy demonstrated the positive role in the restoration of hematopiesis following by bone marrow injury. Immunotherapy using monoclonal antibodies is a novel strategy of cancer treatment. These antibodies activate complement system and opsonize tumor cells with iC3b fragment. In contrast to microorganisms, tumor cells, as well as other host cells, lack beta-glucan as a surface component and cannot trigger complement receptor 3-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and initiate tumor-killing activity. This mechanism could be induced in the presence of beta-glucans.

These are expensive, but Transfer Point is the "go to" brand of Beta Glucans, but mostly you need the 1-3 binding... https://smile.amazon.com/Transfer-Point-Beta-1-Glucan-500mg/dp/B01EH4OTJ2

I have personally taken those as well as some other brands just for immunostimulatory properties and protection...
This brand is cheaper and is from algae instead of mushrooms (if price is not a concern, I'd go with the other brand).https://smile.amazon.com/Pure-Synergy-SuperPure-Capsules-Booster/dp/B01MQJ0750/

Also, you may want to look up AHCC (Active hexose-correlated compound)... Kinoko brand is good https://smile.amazon.com/s?k=ahcc+kinoko

Active hexose-correlated compound enhances extrinsic-pathway-mediated apoptosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemic cells:
> Results showed that AHCC induced Caspase-3-dependent apoptosis in AML cell lines as well as in primary AML leukopheresis samples. Additionally, AHCC induced Caspase-8 cleavage as well as Fas and TRAIL upregulation, suggesting involvement of the extrinsic apoptotic pathway. In contrast, monocytes from healthy donors showed suppressed Caspase-3 cleavage and lower cell death. When tested in a murine engraftment model of AML, AHCC led to significantly increased survival time and decreased blast counts. These results uncover a mechanism by which AHCC leads to AML-cell specific death, and also lend support for the further investigation of AHCC as a potential adjuvant for the treatment of AML.
