I'm also shopping for my wedding band, but I'm pretty sure I will get a titanium or tungsten ring. My brother-in-law has this one (he paid the full $100 at a store) and it's a nice, good-looking, scratch-proof ring.

It's not too unusual to replace your wedding ring, upgrade them over time, or have different ones for different occasions. Given pricing, a lifetime of tungsten rings wouldn't come close to a gold ring in price.

This tungsten band

It's nice and heavy, and identical to the one from the jewelrey store that was $300. It's especially important since I always am misplacing it.
