Not available in most stores for same-day pick-up, but beats Amazon's next-week availability.

USB extensions

I also had a bit of confusion when reading through Oculus' guide to room-scaling about what to buy to extend my range, so I though I'd at least share what I bought for three sensors:

u/Karlroe · 3 pointsr/oculus

I use these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B009XRUDZI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P0ES0YE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I didn't need longer ones but both work fine They do longer ones too, you may need active ones over a certain length though

u/maxcovergold · 3 pointsr/oculus

I had endless problems with USB. Problem is it's different for everyone, many are fine with just their Motherboard's.

What I can tell you, if you want to run extension cables, the money no object solution (the only thing that go everything working acceptably for me) is the following:

Startech PEXUSB3S44V

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00HJZEA2S

Also, found many of the recommended cables hit and miss but Ugreen's have been excellent. Always use the shortest you can.

For 2m I have these on one sensor and one on the Rift itself:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00P0ES0YE

I also have 1m and 3m version on my other two sensors.

To go with the 2m extension to the Rift (only if needed obvious) I used (again Ugreen):

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00A30FLE2

Best of luck. Look forward to seeing you in there

I bought a ugreen hdmi extension, and an Amazon basics usb 3.0 extension, working perfectly. From Amazon.ca

I'm running a gigabyte z170 motherboard, and a GTX 1080ti reference card. All 3 sensors + headset are into motherboard, no expansion card needed for me.

u/Piec3_of_Toast · 2 pointsr/oculus

I have the Aorus 1080ti and have no issues with extensions. I'm using separate cables for each though as I've heard some of those specific headset extensions can be a pain. I got these and so far so good -

Edit: I clipped the two together and no issues with tangling and that. This also helps a lot - http://lightingandceilingfans.com/wp-content/uploads/imgp/regolit-floor-lamp-6-7275.jpg

My 3 sensor setup is and has been working flawless for me. My system is an Asus maximus viii hero and an Nvidia GTX 1080. My two front cameras are on USB3 both on extension cables from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P0ES0YE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and the back camera is on USB2 with monoprice extension cable. All sensors are mounted from my drop ceiling.

u/Zurafta · 2 pointsr/oculus

Hey!
The UGREEN extension seemed to help, BUT I had only the chance to test it for a few days before my PC died, since than I have no Rift capable machine anymore ;(
But in the few days I had the extension plugged in I worked like a charm with no hiccups or strange errors!
The exact one I ordered was this one (Amazon Germany): https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00P0ES0YE/

u/iscander_s · 2 pointsr/WindowsMR

Any decent quality thick 6ft extension cables should work fine for most cases, but with longer cables there's might be problems. I use these (USB 6ft. and HDMI 6ft.) extension cables made by UGreen and they works great with my Lenovo Explorer.

u/BigDan1190 · 2 pointsr/pcmasterrace

Get whatever mouse you want (I like the corsair M45) and a USB extension cable. Get a good quality one, spend roughly £5 and you'll be fine.

I can personally recommend this extension LINK

I use it for a 7 port USB 3.0 powered hub through which i connect my mouse, keyboard, mic, webcam and xbox 360 controller. And it works great :)

u/skantzogames · 2 pointsr/oculus

I used these. The usb and hdmi are connected to the HMD. Those are passed through the techflex. Prevents my extension cables and HMD cable from getting kinked up. I trimmed the ends of the tech flex and shrunk them with a lighter.

I bought some USB 3.0 and DP 1.4 6ft extension cables to use with a pulley system and they work flawlessly on my index, so it should work just as good with the Rift S. Personally I wouldn't go over 10ft, only if you want to invest in some active cables.

The cables I got:

I got this usb 3.0 extender : https://www.amazon.ca/UGREEN-Extension-Extender-Transfer-Playstation/dp/B00P0ES0YE/ref=sr_1_30?ie=UTF8&qid=1519593671&sr=8-30&keywords=ugreen+usb+3

I got this hdmi extender : https://www.monoprice.com/Product?p_id=3342

The hdmi one is recommended from oculus' website itself. Link : https://www.oculus.com/blog/oculus-roomscale-extra-equipment/

I had tried another usb and hdmi extender before that didn't work. Those two worked. I have a gtx 1070.

Good luck my friend.

u/apinanaivot · 1 pointr/oculus

I'm also assuming I'll have to buy usb 3.0 extenders for the sensors to play in room-scale properly?

u/RedZoneRocks · 1 pointr/oculus

I use these extension cables and USB card. I've never had a poor tracking message since I installed my Rift. OVR_Server is low single digits CPU usage.

Intel i7 3.50Ghz 4 core, 16GB RAM, Nvidia 1060 3GB graphics card.

i use These for the sensors and this usb and this Hdmi for the headset.. they work well for me.

u/Gonzaxpain · 1 pointr/oculus

For 2 meters or less almost any decent cable will work, bigger than that you need active cables and hdmi repeater.

These are the ones I use and they work perfectly (6ft, 2m)

Not sure if "cord commander" (awesome name btw) is the same as Cable Guardian but yes, I can also highly recommend a ceiling setup if possible. I built mine with these: Keychains, HDMI extension, USB extension

I have also crafted a solution for the keychain HMD pull issue, and will be posting pics and instructions when I get them prepared.

u/troyred · 1 pointr/RTLSDR

Thanks for the reply, is this cable good enough? It says "foil & braid shielding that provides protection against interference from EMI/RFI signals".. is that what I want or are some better than others?

u/Exalyte · 1 pointr/oculus_rift

Rearrange the space as already suggested.

I used these and they worked perfectly

UGREEN 10373 USB Extension Lead... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00P0ES0YE?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

UGREEN 10142 2 m HDMI HDMI Black... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00A30FLE2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

They do longer ones I only needed 2m for my setup

u/spacedog_at_home · 1 pointr/WindowsMR

I used this USB3 and this HDMI 2m extension cable, they work great on my Visor.

This is the actual solution to this problem:
