By far the best pen I have EVER written with is the Uni-Ball Jetstream. So incredibly smooth and comfortable, the first time I used one I literally looked it up and saved it to my Amazon profile so I would always be able to get them. I prefer 0.7 which it surprisingly not that thin but they also sell them in 1.0

I know you said other than quick-drying ink, but I can't suggest the Uniball Jetstream RT highly enough, they're inexpensive and I've never had any problems with smudging with them.

Fellow lefty here - my favorite everyday writing pens are Uniball Jetstream 0.7. They are the only pens I have ever a) not lost and b) used up all they way. I'm obsessed.

Yeah they aren't great but they work fine for people who don't care for their pens.

For when I need a pen I prefer the Uniball Jetstream RT. The 0.7 writes finer than you would think. The thickness is comparable to a 0.38mm Pilot G2 (what I used to use).

If you're adamant on getting a ballpoint, then I would go for the Uniball Jetstream. Unlike regular ballpoints, the Jetstream is extremely smooth and pleasurable to use. The price, although more expensive than a shitty Bic, is still pretty affordable.

If you're willing to break out of the ballpoints, I would suggest a Pilot G2 for a reliable and inexpensive gel pen. They write much better (smoother and with less pressure) than ballpoints and, being gels, put down a darker and much more vivid line.

It gets stuck less.

I keep the first empty "uni SXR-7" empty at my desk.

Uni-ball jetstream. I’m left handed and smearing ink is an issue. This pens ink dries very fast and writes well on paper, telemetry strips, and the smooth glossy front of the patients folder.

On the road I carry a black Uniball Jetstream or black Pilot G2 Mini when size is an issue. The Jetstream writes great and the Mini is small, but mostly they are cheap I will not be upset if I leave them behind. I don't carry a pencil, but if I did it would be a wood #2.
