Cheap, no moving parts and easy to clean. The holes are large enough for flakey stuff or coarse ground salt and pepper.
for the french toast eggs and bacon, do you know how she likes her eggs cooked? If she is a scrambled egg person, then I would just scramble with salt and pepper, serve on the plate next to the bacon, the french toast I would stack and sprinkle with powdered sugar for presentation. Put the powdered sugar in a jar or container with a shaker top like this one

or use an old salt shaker and only fill half way full. (also make sure you rinse it out, you don't want any salt in there.
