I am currently using

with no issues.
I dont think it is the smart charging that causes the issues, I think the issues come from Qualcomm Quick Charge Ports (orange on Aukey devices)

Looks familiar. I use one of these in the garage these days. I almost feel like I might as well have an ebike with all the cables that I'll sometimes run to my bike (instead of taking the lights off)... gotta charge the front light, rear light, helmet rear light, garmin, gopro, headphones, spare front light...

I miss summer. No cold to kill my batteries faster, Garmin lasts all week, and lights only necessary when I'm out late.

I'd probably go for the C2, it's not quite as fast as the XU4 but it's cheaper. Also important to note the XU4 is an 8 core, while the C2 is 4. C2 doesn't have the fan mounted right on the chip so when you stack them up you can just mount a single fan next to them all.

Also, the C2 has a jumper on it that will allow you to power it over the microUSB port. While the barrel connector is probably more ideal, it's not necessary. If you don't plan on connecting anything to the USB ports that eats up power I don't see any reason to not just do it that way with a 5 port charger. I think their stated power draw under load is something like 1A.

You can get 2-5 port USB chargers like this to handle your power needs in a compact form factor. For the RPis themselves, I use cheap nylon M2.5 stand-offs along with appropriately sized screws & nuts. Select the stand-off length that gives you the separation you want between boards.

It actually wasn't that expensive (especially compared to an all-in-one solution):

Why not just get a Type-C charger? Or one with a Type-C and a few regular ports?

From what you showed me, I would recommend this one. Reputable brand, and good price.

I'm currently using a few of the older 25W version of this Aukey charger https:/https://www.amazon.com/Charger-5-Port-Output-iPhone-Samsung/dp/B00UN1LM7Q/ (this one is 50W)

The 25W seems to be only available on Amazon.ca now https://www.amazon.ca/Desktop-Charging-Station-Charger-Devices/dp/B017U7K1RM/

I'm also using a few of these 40W ones from Monoprice http://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=13914 The Monoprice ones come with a longer cable (maybe a foot?) though the cables have the same end connector, so are interchangable between the monoprice and aukey.

The Monoprice ones are $1 cheaper right now than the Aukey, and Monoprice has a 15% off code one this weekend ("USA")
