If you want something that is bass heavy or highlights the bass I have two suggestions in your budget. For circumaural headphones I recommend the Utrasons DJ 1 pro. I love these headphones because they are portable, fold in ways that make them comfortable to put around your neck or listen to just one channel. Another awesome thing about the pros is that the cable screws in and out, which is usually the first thing that goes wrong in a headphone. So once that happens you can just call utrasone and they send you a new cable. Here is the amazon link.

BUT if you are willing to try something new and maybe in ear check out Sonomax's Eers custom earplugs. These are in-ear CUSTOM earplugs. You pretty much get a package that has a headband and you place it correctly. You press two buttons and a two part silicon will fill the chamber of the earplug that starts taking the shape of your ear. You wait 5 mins, pop them out, and you have your pair of custom plugs. No one but you can wear these earplugs. The amazing part about these plugs is that since they fit your ear perfectly they isolate you from the outside noise so you don't have to turn up your music so loud. Also, because they fit your ear so well, they don't fall off, you have to take them off yourself. The bad thing about them is you gotta lube the earplugs before you insert them, which usually means licking them, but you get used to that. They have two models PCS 150 and PCS 250. I would recommend the 150 if you want something bass heavy, and for your particular genre of music. But the 250s use dual balanced armature drivers so they sound amazing no matter what you are listening to, the 150's are cheaper. [Here] (http://www.amazon.com/Sonomax-PCS-150-Custom-Headphones-Microphone/dp/B007S88OTQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1348671865&sr=8-1&keywords=eers) is the amazon link to those.

I hope this helps. Good luck and happy listening.

EDIT: I own all three of the earphones I am suggesting.

Totally agree. They sound much better than their price but they totally look like airline headsets. They don't feel like cheap headphones at all though and the sound quality really runs it into a lot of $100 cousins.

Also in that $50 range are my go-to Philips Downtowns. I would put the beyers a tad above them in sound but the philips have the nod in comfort (which is saying a lot, given the DT235s.) I mention them a lot because I've seen them on sale for as low as 20-something USD. But they are supraaural too. Their Uptown cousin is circumaural but haven't seen it on super sale yet.

I have a friend who love his Ultrasone DJ Pro. Never got a chance to listen to them and he only uses them for DJing so not sure whether there's selection bias there. There's not a lot of love on Head-fi for Ultrasone but on foreign websites they get much better reviews. There styling is the same as the M50s but definitely aimed at the DJ/EDM crowd. Maybe worth an audition, given the comparable to the M50 but better cord management.

I think Ultrasone DJ1 Pros fit the bill. I have some DJ1s that I love.

They fold up nicely, with a detachable cable. They are large, closed cans (will muffle most sound, but not fully noise cancelling). And the S-logic surround sound is dope.

There's plenty of other choices though, and many forums to read through. Check out http://head-fi.com for detailed comparisons.

These headphones Sennheiser HD 202 are great. Super comfortable and sound quality is awesome. They are a little more bass heavy but if you don't mind it then its cool. These are what I take whenever I go out, for 20$ I dont have to worry too much about them taking a beating. They have gotten a little bit looser over time when I compared them to a brand new pair. But without comparing them, they still fit snug with no complaints. Once these go out, I would buy another pair for my casually on the go listening.

I use these at gigs and when I'm at home and really want quality (Ultrasone DJ1 Pro). These are really really awesome in sound quality aspect. But that comes with a price, 150$. Unlike the above 202's these are heavier and more bulky so I don't take them on the go for casual listening. But when I'm at home or at a show they are great. The only downside is that they are pretty damn big. They don't fit as snug as the 202's but it is a different type of fit. The 202's land on top of my ears and these completely surround your ears. If I bob my head too much they might slip off. Sound wise, they sound great. They are more flat on the spectrum so I believe they have higher fidelity and sound closer to what the original mastered tracked was intended to be.

Those are the two main headphones I can really speak for by having owned them for some time now. They are both great for their prices but have different uses. Liek you said if you dont care about bulky and want quality sound, the DJI pros are the way to go. There are also DJ1s but I believe those emphasize the bass more, like the 202s, which isn't really a good thing (depending what you want). I believe the producer masters a track to what he thinks sounds best at and what it's suppose to be heard at. When you start getting too much of a certain frequency, it will throw the balance off on the song and what is was intended to be heard at. But if your a "I love bass/give me more" type of guy, what ever floats your boat and ears.Stay away from in ear headphones. Stay away from Bose/Skullcandy/Beats/Dre. Sennheisser is a quality brand. There are many good headphones out there, these are the two I can speak for.

Edit: To add to the DJ1 pros, the speakers inside are angled at a certain way to work with the acoustics in your ears. I don't know exactly how this works with the acoustics, but the speaker inside the headphone isnt just pointing straight foward into your ear like most headphones.

I own these headphones, and personally I love them. I wouldn't recommend them for people with bigger heads, as I'm not sure how the supraaural would feel for them. I also have a pair of AKG K81DJs that are also supraural and are too tight so I know how uncomfortable headphones like these can be if they don't fit properly.

However, if they do fit, I would posit that they are extremely comfortable cans. Not only do I find them to sit extremely well, but they are also about half the weight of any other pair of DJ headphones, which is something you definitely notice after a few hours of performing. Isolation is awesome, sound quality is beyond good, and I find that the seem to "bring out" the kicks and snares a bit more when beatmatching, making it a bit easier to beatmatch on muddied rhythms.

The ohter ones I have heard lots of good reviews for and almost purchased for myself are the Ultrasone DJ1 Pro

Hey, not to threadjack, but does anyone know where (if) you can get colored replacement ear/head pads for the HD-25s, like the ones on these Originals
