i feel the same way, my pops gets op 40s and lets me have a few every day if i find him so dro.
when i use a 40, i use a cuticle clipper like so (http://www.amazon.com/Professional-NAIL-CUTICLE-CLIPPER-CUTTER/dp/B005DV5Z74/ref=pd_sim_sbs_bt_7) and chop it up into many little pieces.
Then i scoop em together and place them on a thin piece of tissue paper,napkin etc. If you use a napkin make sure to pull all the layers apart and get the thinnest layer. cut it into a square and place the chopped 40 into the middle.
fold up the tissue squaree and twist it like a hershey kiss. pop that and voila...
thats about the only way I can feel anything through 40s.
I know its far fetched but the last time i took a 40, i chased it with 2 norco 10/325 and i was nodding hard.
