You don't need to swipe apps away from the recent list when you're done with them. The system saves their state to RAM, but it frees it if it is needed for another app. I never bother clearing my recent apps, and I don't notice any slowdowns.
I personally opted to just use my N10 without a case because I wasn't willing to lose that awesome back, and the slim form factor.
