Not the person you're replying to, but there's a step-in harness that I use for my cat when it's colder outside and I want her to have more protection.
Generally I use one similar to this with two buckles. It's easier to put on than the other. It's not the exact one I use but I can't find any info on the one I have.
As other posters have said, you want to get your cat comfortable with the harness before you ever go outside, or they will flip and twist and do their best to get out of them. Now my cat associates the harness with walking and will let me put it on her because she knows it means she's going outside. I also make sure I pick her up and take her outside so she doesn't bolt out on her own.
