Razor: I started with this Merkur razor (and I'm still using it after two years). Edwin Jagger is probably equally popular, but I haven't tried them.

Brush/bowl: I was given this bowl/soap/brush/holder kit as a gift and still use it, but the brush broke after about a year (I could probably fix it with some good glue but haven't bothered yet. The holder is nice, but you might be able to find just a brush and bowl separately slightly cheaper if you're on a budget. I didn't use the soap in the kit because:

Soap: Proraso soap was suggested and I ended up liking it a lot. Some people like to buy sampler packs of soap/cream as well, but this was good enough for me, and it would take me forever to get through samples. This Proraso got me through 15 months with an average of one shave per week.

Blades: I started out with a sampler pack of blades from Maggard Razors, and Gillette Silver Blue and Gillette 7 O'Clock (both yellow and green were the same to me) ended up being the easiest on my face. I tried Feather, but they were way too harsh at first, I think because I hadn't really gotten the technique down yet. Gillette was more forgiving, but once I got better at shaving, I was able to use Feathers.

Other: Lastly, I really like using an alum stick after shaving to help close up pores/tiny nicks (weepers), but they're not necessary. I also now use Shave Secret as a first layer when I start my second pass (against the grain). Again, not necessary, but I think it helps me personally a little to have that extra layer of protection to prevent razor burn. It does gunk up your razor a little, though, so just be sure to keep it clean.

--------------------------

I still only shave once a week, and I have a 3 day minimum in between shaves, otherwise I'll still get razor burn. Read up on some info in /r/wicked_edge. /u/Leisureguy has a ton of great comments in that sub. Sort his comment history by top, and you'll get plenty of good advice right off the bat. He also has a blog. My best tips: Make sure you use a shallow angle (as opposed to the perpendicular/90-degree shave you're used to with cartridge razors), and don't let your lather be too dry. Also, if your area has hard water, consider using distilled water to make your lather. Maggard Razors has been really great at shipping fast and having good prices for me and carries everything I mentioned, but there several reputable online shops. I know lots of people prefer to use Amazon, so I linked everything on Amazon except the blade sampler pack.

Yes. I put a 16GB SD card in there. It records videos in 3-minute chunks (there are settings for all sorts of time lengths, 3min is default). Prior to recording each video, if the disk space is full, it deletes the oldest file on the card. The result is that I have the most recent two week's worth of driving or so, I have to transfer them to my laptop if I need them for longer or they'll be deleted.

It's certainly clear enough to read plates, but the audio could be better. It's clear enough to pick up the radio, conversations in the car, etc., but the problem is that it picks up a lot of noise from the defrosters/fans. If you turn on your AC or windshield fans while running the cam, everything is drowned by awful white noise.

It is powered by cigarette lighter outlet. It has an auto-on/off feature when power is detected, so it automatically turns on when the car is running, and will shut down about 20 seconds after the car is turned off.

Here's the kicker, I know it isn't very helpful, but I'm not even sure what the brand is. I don't think mine is very "high end", it was about $40, but has worked great and I recommend it. I'll try and look it up later for you.

Edit: this is the one, thanks to komeradfox finding it for me. http://www.amazon.com/DashBoard-Camera-Vehicle-Accident-Recorder/dp/B0067XVNTG/ref=zg_bs_3248689011_1

It also advertises a "night vision" mode, which is just a bright white led on front that causes glare all over the windshield. I don't use that mode at all.

Also the cord that reaches to the power is a generous 6ft long or so! It's great, I managed to find a way to tuck the wire around the ceiling paneling of my truck so that it is not visible. No hanging wire.

Overall it's a great value and I'm happy for the purchase, although its one of those things that you almost hope is a waste of money. Based on the Russian YouTube videos I watch that inspired me to get one, you don't want to ever film something gruesome.

Welp, Wizards of the Coast has put the core rulebook of the latest edition online for free, so you can read over that to get a handle on the rules.

Other than that, the 5th edition starter set is pretty cheap on Amazon -- that will give you everything you need to start playing with some friends at a table.

And the free(!) online service https://roll20.net is a virtual tabletop where you can play over the internet with folks from anywhere!

For finding folks to play, either talk 3-5 friends into playing, or search /r/lfg or roll20's built-in game finder.

And that's everything you need! :D

u/DillPixels · 1 pointr/gifs

You can get a really good one on amazon for $90-$100. Super worth it. I got it on sale for $70 recently, and it drops randomly. It has great quality and a wide angle lens. Records sound too if you want it to. You just have to get a micro SD card (I got a 64 Gb for like $17 on sale, Samsung brand). Link to Dash Cam

Edit: Corrected SD Card storage

LPT: If your worried about your link looking like an affiliate link, want to get rid of link tracking that only benefits the website, or simply want a cleaner link to post, you can almost always clean up links.

On Amazon, for example, the only thing necessary to link to a product page is the Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN). The rest is just for SEO (e.g. product name), tracks where you clicked from and often even includes sensitive info like what search term you used (as in your example) or on some sites even your user name.

So turn this:

https://www.amazon.com/Etymotic-Fidelity-Earplugs-ETY-Plugs-Standard/dp/B0044DEESS/ref=sr_1_6_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1519915182&sr=8-6&keywords=etymotic+earplugs

into this:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0044DEESS

The same principle works on many sites. Here's a Google link:

https://www.google.com/search?dcr=0&source=hp&ei=WSSYWp_oFobNwQKwoZfQDA&q=Earplugs&oq=Earplugs&gs_l=psy-ab.3..0i7i30k1l10.8309.21648.0.26147.11.7.0.0.0.0.2004.3026.2-3j1j9-1.5.0....0...1c.1.64.psy-ab..6.5.3022...0i8i30k1.0.kYypUJH4-9E

Simplify to:

https://www.google.com/search?q=Earplugs

This way you often don't need URL shorteners, can still show people directly where you're linking and maintain a higher degree of privacy.

BTW, you could even do something like:
https://www.amazon.com/Ear-Dildo/dp/B0044DEESS
and it would still link to the same ear plugs because only the ASIN matters.

To date, I have used my dash cam for zero accident evidence, but have seen countless terrible drivers to the point that I stopped bothering to save the videos, caught a fantastic lightning strike, and this moment.

Edit: To all those that are asking:

Yes, this is Edmonton, Alberta. Northbound on Terwillegar drive, going over the Anthony Henday.

I know that the last bit of snow is preventing 100% satisfaction, so I'm going to endeavor to look through the footage in the hope of making a second GIF of the wiper taking care of that. I don't know if it ever does, but I'll try to find out.

I'm sorry, I lost the footage of the lightning strike. But here's a close call I had: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ibz_zn8BRIY

I started shaving with a Dovo straight razor shavette about 8 years ago. For blades Merkur or Feather are recommended, I'm on Feather at the moment.

I went with a Basel haired shaving brush and good shaving soap for a while but have found the shaving oils like King of Shaves work best for me.

Wouldn't go back.

This thing is absolutely amazing. I haven't bought a compressed air can for years. Some of the benefits include:

  • Not having to constantly buy compressed air cans.
  • It keeps going till you're done, not till the can runs out.
  • It can work upside down and on any angle, making it far easier to reach the harder spots.
  • It doesn't get cold in your hand.
  • It's a very simple design and should last for many years.

I would buy another in a second if mine ever breaks down.
u/WithLinesOfInk · 3 pointsr/gifs

According to the source vid, it's a memory foam dog bed. Kind of like this one or this one. This one, this one, and this one are all great. I've been researching them to save up for our little monster.

u/themoofinman · 4 pointsr/gifs

I think a great starter safety razor is the Merkur. Check it out here. I also think Merkur makes some great blades.

u/Ev_antics · 1 pointr/gifs

i use products from the art of shaving - their shaving oil is especially nice and when used generally makes the blade slide across my face and not cut it.

the blade holder (i'm bad with names - razor?) was a gift during the shaving exchange. I think it was this one

and then i got myself some of these blades

what ive discovered is that the blades are cheap but if you want a good clean shave the oil is really nice (bit expensive though). In a pinch ive used shaving cream from a can before with safety blades, was still a really close shave.

I've cut myself a few times but after getting used to the blades I generally do no end up with cuts - was a bit of a learning curve.

u/Pappy091 · 1 pointr/gifs

Try a safety razor a good shaving brush and a quality shaving soap. Use it one time and you will never use anything else. Unless you wanted to go a step further and use a straight razor. Also, shave after a hot shower (or in one) whenever possible. Using a shaving brush and safety razor has been my favorite part of getting ready for my day for years. It is almost therapeutic for me.

I'm not recommending any of those specific items. They were just the first ones that popped up. Do some research and there are tons of options and accessories out there.

u/ugottahvbluhair · 1 pointr/gifs

I have this one for my dog. It's $46 so not too expensive. She's only part dachshund so she can jump up pretty well but when we got a new mattress that is a few inches higher she kept missing. Now she loves to use the stairs and it makes me feel better that she has less of a chance of hurting herself. She still just jumps up or off when she's excited though.

u/H720 · 272 pointsr/gifs

I doubt I'd play with it much beyond a day because it's a bit big for a keychain and I'm not an alcoholic, but it's $3

I try to find cool stuff like this for /r/INEEEEDIT, my sub. If you like stuff like this you'd probably like the subreddit too.

This design is up to 30 feet tall, according to Trump.

https://www.whitehouse.gov/briefings-statements/remarks-president-trump-visit-border-wall-san-diego-ca/

> The wall is 30 feet high.  We also have 18-foot wall.  We have a combination of 30 feet and 18 [feet], depending on the area, depending on the — on the importance.

There are definitely ladders long enough for that.
https://www.homedepot.com/p/Werner-28-ft-Fiberglass-Extension-Ladder-with-300-lbs-Load-Capacity-Type-IA-Duty-Rating-D6228-2/100659879

Rope ladders can be longer.

Models with hooks instead of loops at the top can be easily tossed over the barricade. https://www.amazon.com/Emergency-Escape-Ladder-25-3-Story/dp/B005YSY0AY

But yes, I know you're not arguing that the wall can just be built higher since you share the opinion that it's a foolish pursuit. Just highlighting exactly how ridiculous.

u/DiscoKittie · 4 pointsr/gifs

The new D&D 5th edition actually rocks. I'm excited to (hopefully) be changing to that system in our group soon) :)

Or you could downlaod the Basic Rules PDF. :) That's free!

The PDF has more rules than the box set, but the box set (which is on sale right now) has some cool stuff, too.

u/Irythros · 5 pointsr/gifs

If you're not worried about electrostatic get this Metro Vacuum which isnt actually a vacuum

If you are: Here or here

The vac is pretty much like a can of compressed air but without the $10/can price tag. Also you dont need to worry about asshole friends turning it upside down and spraying you.

u/Airwarf · 19 pointsr/gifs

I got this one for Christmas and it's really nice. Still waiting for something reddit worthy to happen in front of me though. Hopefully not involving me.

u/Desmond_Fishman · 1 pointr/gifs

Amazon sells their stuff - should be okay!

You may want to shop about though - it's not for everyone, and a lot of people use this as a 'base' under shaving foam.

Shaving soap is also VERY good (applied with a brush), so you may want to try that - the cost is significantly greater though.

u/hikemhigh · 1 pointr/gifs

I have this one which I really like too! Fantastic quality and durability. Basically the gold standard of dash cams - on sale for $50 off right now too, might pick one up for the rear

u/pixelnote · 10 pointsr/gifs

I think Astras are the cheapest at $11 for 100 on Amazon. Feathers are $26 for 100. I think those are the most extreme cases for popular brands, but I could be wrong. You can always buy a sampler from TryABlade to find out what brand you like the best.

I got one from Amazon a few weeks ago. Love it. $80 for a front and rear facing camera. Installation took me 20 minutes.

Perhaps it was this? It's $47, and is the best selling dash cam on amazon (though not the highest rated)

Just a suggestion, best blades I have ever used, and for $12 you are good for quite a long time. 100 blades is 12 cents a blade, and you use half of one in a shavette. When I shaved regularly I would go a week of shaving daily without issue on one, just changed it after a week or so usually because I could.

I have the Klein version of these.

I've used them a lot. They work great. You may need to adjust the tension depending on wire size and the slickness of the insulation. I could see them being hard to use with really slick wires or wires where the insulation is very elastic. I've mostly used them on 12-18 awg gxl automotive wire. But, I have used them on smaller and bigger wires without issue.

I love them for creating gaps in wires for terminals to run common power and ground. Here is an example I did for a switch panel. Common power and ground for the switch lights kept the need for more wires to a minimum.

In case anyone was wondering why the two switches on the right are different, it is for my winch. One switch needs to be on for the winch in/out switch to function.

Shameless plug, buy a pair of earplugs like this. They are easy to carry, and help dampen the ridiculously loud sounds. I keep them on my keys, and use them almost everywhere I go. Movies, Bars, Concerts, hell even at conventions.

Not even an affiliate link or anything either. Just trying to spread the word.
