I had motion sickness issues on my bus commute even before I was pregnant so the day I found out about my little one I bought a pack of barf bags. Not the cute "Morning Chicness" ones but regular old medical grade barf bags. Now I have them in my bathroom, next to my bed, in my car, in my purse, in my desk...basically anywhere I may feel the potential for sickness. So basically everywhere.

They are not cheap but it TOTALLY beats hugging a potty, especially a public potty.

So far I've just been queasy with no actual vomiting, but I can't imagine my pre-pregnancy nausea mastery will spare me entirely.

So I had hyperemesis gravidarum (severe "morning sickness") and I tried it all. Some helpful hints:

Frozen slush to drink. Slushy magic ice cubes can turn any liquid into slush. For a few months the only liquid I could keep down was slushified sparkling apple juice. With my son it was cranberry juice mixed with seltzer. In general, the colder the better (it numbs the barf nerve), and slush and other thick drink sit better.

There are baby teething crackers called "baby mum mums". You can find them at Target, Whole Foods, other grocery stores, babies r us, etc. They are a very mild flavor and dissolve in your mouth easily- this means you can keep them by the bed and eat them lying down easily. They were the absolute best "bland food" I found. Eat as soon as you wake up, lying down, then wait 15-20 min before getting up. Try to get some sort of protein for breakfast, if you can.

Search for "emesis bags" on amazon and just buy a box. Keep one (or more) in your purse, one in your car, etc. It's just easier. I liked these : http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004TMW47W?pc_redir=1408712738&robot_redir=1

If you go a full day without keeping anything down, call your OB/midwife and ask where you can go for IV hydration that isn't the ER or Urgent care. Don't be afraid to ask for Zofran, either. It can ramp up quickly and it can be very rough.

For future reference, this is your best friend to have in your car.

They are remarkably effective, cheap, and they stack together so they barely take up any room at all. I always carry 3 in my glove and have had friends use them more than once.

I keep these in my truck for this exact situation
