Check out smart sockets, like this WiFi one; I've seen them with wifi, Z-wave, Zigbee, ye-old X-10, even wired. You can plug in whatever bulb you want - even use a splitter, like /u/redroguetech said. And why stop at a 1-to-2 splitter? I found a 1-to-5 splitter, or even higher. If you're using a directional splitter like that, you can use some cheap floodlights, and still light up your garage like daylight!
My concern in longevity. The Phillips LED bulbs I've used last about the same as an incandescent; some as long as a CFL. No way I could afford the Hue if they don't last years. I need 6 bulbs just for my family room. . Light switch is not an option.
