Adwords is unlikely to get you great results unless you know what you're doing. If you're still using it, I'm an Adwords professional and I could take a look at your account and see if there are any easy changes you can make that would boost effectiveness.

Also, if word of mouth has worked best for you, then check out this book. It has some pretty good ideas for making your word of mouth impact go even further.

IMO You want word of mouth, instead of paying for ads. There's a huge difference between paying for advertising and getting a one time customer vs word of mouth where basically every recommendation is almost a guaranteed sale. Think of it, you see an ad for a t-shirt, you want to buy that right now? probably not... but you ask a friend "hey i want a t-shirt" and they reply "get it from evsoul" theres a good chance you'll buy the thing.

Read a couple books on this recently and it works better than traditional advertising. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00MFPTJQO & http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007Y7A50W and no, not affiliated with them. I sell used crap for a living.
