I got the same diamondback Except FDE, perhaps the EMLBFDE i'd have to check

The Vortex Razor AMG UH1 with their 3x flip up for my close shooting stuff. Picked up that Pulsar n550 as well, bout 2 weeks ago when it was like 73%. Haven't shot with it yet tho

Also got the same optic as you but the 4-16 variant that vortex makes.
I got the vortex precision extended 30mm mount with 20 MOA cant
Man was i split between that and the 6-24x. I do have a 1000yd range with steel every hundred starting a 400, but for hunting i just dont see the need for it yet.

Caldwell Accumax, M-Lok/KeyMod direct attachment, 9-13inch carbon fiber bipod. (extremely satisfied, there's plenty of other great bipods more or less this price but amazon prime always gets me with the two day shipping)

I got the Strike Industries link 3 piece hand stop kit. Its was 17$ when i bought it and its honestly great. Direct attach to KeyMod/M-Lok !! It could be a little better and softer on the hand, but the versatility is great. I prefer a very particular grip setup and finding one that could direct attach to KeyMod was near impossible. So i make it with this.

PMags is what i use and never had a problem. Brass shavings/particulate could gunk up eventually but if you take average care of your rifle i wanna say there's no issue. Never had a steel(?) AR10 Mag that does that so i cant say for sure..

Rangefinder is next on my List

edit: model ELMBFDE

TL;DR: Rifle is fine.

When I originally decided I wanted an AR-10 I couldn't decide if I wanted to build or buy. I also wanted to stay on a budget, as close to $1000 as possible. After I started doing more reasearch I quickly realized two things; first and foremost I would not be happy with an off the shelf sub $1000 rifle and second, I was going to have to spend more than $1000.

Regarding an off the shelf rifle, I had a few thoughts. I wanted a free float handguard, which would add at least $200 to the cost of the off the shelf gun. Second I hated the cheap adjustable stocks that come on them. A new stock would add another $150 or more to the cost of the rifle. So at that point I'm getting into $1300 to $1500 territory. That was before optics.

I guess it was time to build. I started digging around and here's the list of parts and sources I ended up with.

A vortex diamondback, whatever magnification you choose. Lifetime, no questions asked, warranty. You can even buy a used one on eBay and they will honor the warranty. I bought a vortex viper pst 6x24 on eBay for like $450, it’s about a $700 scope. Something was wrong with the elevation adjustment so I called vortex, they told me “so long as you have a vortex product in your possession we will honor the warranty, send it in.” So I did, they fixed everything for free and now I have a middle shelf scope and bottom shelf pricing. I also have two diamondbacks on two hunting rifles, they are about $300 and they’re great optics for the money.

-Bundle: Vortex Optics Diamondback 4-12x40 Dead-Hold BDC Reticle - 1 Inch Tube (DBK-04-BDC) with Vortex Hunter 1" Medium Rings

-Vortex Optics Diamondback Tactical 4-12x40 Second Focal Plane Riflescope - VMR-1 Reticle (MOA)

-Vortex Optics Diamondback Tactical 3-9x40 Second Focal Plane Riflescope - VMR-1 Reticle (MOA)

Just purely curious why you went with MRAD.

I know I want a 30x50 ffp scope, I think I want a Christmas tree style reticle. Not sure on the magnification.

I've only really shot a 308 ar10 athlon
6-24 FFP
at 100 yards. It was zeroed to 100 so there wasn't any hold over or adjustments needed.

And that seems like a good starter optic especially for the price.

But like I said I still really haven't figured the optic out.

I'm a big fan of the Shepherd Rogue Series CSO SFP 6-24X50. I don't see it get much coverage, but I love the reticle, has a 50mm objective to let more light in, and goes up to 24x (if you want that much power). It goes for around $350, but DVOR occasionally has it for $300. r/https://www.amazon.com/Shepherd-Scopes-6-24X50-Reticle-Riflescope/dp/B06ZZ27DK9

Steel will beat up your barrel and extractor more than brass. As many have mentioned, the cost differential more than make up for the extra wear and tear. The only real issue with steel anything IMO is do you plan to shoot at places where it's prohibited? If so, buying cases of steel isn't the best idea. Most ranges that magnet test will nope you out of there even if it's only the case that reacts.

75% of my .223 and .308 target ammo is steel, easily. Also gives be a great excuse to pick up EASY work hours on the range. I bought a 20.00 rolling bar magnet and collect steel case for 20 min each trip.

I had terrible luck boresighting too until I just sucked it up and dropped major coin on a quality laser boresighter

$100 isn't cheap, but it's been a great tool considering I was wasting ammo like crazy because for some reason, I sucked getting on paper at the range.

I have a 22lr with a 28" barrel and that thing is impossible to bore sight...I see nothing when looking through it, perhaps the combination of long barrel and tight bore. This was a big help for me.

I like this because it also helps you level your reticle, but I find hanging a string with a weight and lining it up that way is just as easy.

Edit: a word

I'm almost certain this is the correct size but verify it. Might be best to just retap it.

Just a few thoughts, having done a bunch of 80% lowers (both -15 and -10) myself:

  • On the issue of 30 router passes vs 10, that notch spacing issue is a holdover from the -15 version of the EZ jig, and they sell the -15 blanks in both billet and forged versions. The forged version of the lower blank REQUIRES about 30 passes of the router because the metal is that much tougher.
  • The issue with the bit being pulled down only comes up if your router is... not a good router, at least for this application. I got a high-quality Makita router, and I've never had this problem.
  • If you KNOW that you have a good router, and the bit-pulling problem occurs in conjunction with jumping more than once or so per pass, you are likely taking off too much at once and/or moving the router too fast. Reduce the depth of your passes and take a bit more time with each one.
  • I'm not a professional machinist, but after I got some experience, I was able to do billet lowers in about two hours, and forged ones in a bit more than three.

Having gained experience in the process of finishing them, 80% lowers, both the concept and the company, are definitely my preferred way of obtaining AR-type rifles, especially here in the DPRK.

I only have experience with the Magpul. So far it has served me well shooting my 6.5 CM. I’m happy and would buy another.

>I second this. Looks nice, and it's made in china so my wallet will probably like it.

Caldwell rest. This is apparently what the new version of it is ( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007Y8SBW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )
