If you intend to shoot out to moderate/long ranges, you'll definitely want at least the BDC reticle which will give you some subtensions for holdovers if necessary. If you go V-Brite, all you have is a center dot, so you need to dial everything and admittedly, the low capped turrets on the CF2 aren't meant to be dialed all day every day like a purpose-built long range optic with tall, uncapped turrets designed for dialing repeatedly.
One scope you may be able to find near your price range that would be an amazing optic would be the now-discontinued Diamondback Tactical 3-9x40. When we had them as a current product they were going around $270 and chances are, now that they've been recently discontinued, you should be able to find them for less. We shot out to 1000 yards with a 6.5 creedmoor with that exact scope in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2QUjRRr5JsA&t=11s - The scope is dead simple with not many bells and whistles aside from the absolute bare essentials needed to shoot long range which are turrets that can dial accurately, repeatedly and consistently and a reticle with subtensions that can be used for holdovers, ranging, spotting shots, etc. Oh - and the optical quality is a bit better than the Crossfire II as well which is nice.

A vortex diamondback, whatever magnification you choose. Lifetime, no questions asked, warranty. You can even buy a used one on eBay and they will honor the warranty. I bought a vortex viper pst 6x24 on eBay for like $450, it’s about a $700 scope. Something was wrong with the elevation adjustment so I called vortex, they told me “so long as you have a vortex product in your possession we will honor the warranty, send it in.” So I did, they fixed everything for free and now I have a middle shelf scope and bottom shelf pricing. I also have two diamondbacks on two hunting rifles, they are about $300 and they’re great optics for the money.
