Not sure if this is the best place to ask (or I should start a post) but I have a list of laptops that seem to be great deals for the specs that they're carrying. Just having a tough time deciding. They range from USD 1000~1600. There's one ASUS that could get as low as 1030 for a GTX1080 but the responses to it have not been so good. Just wanted some good advice on which ones I should get and ones I should be more concerned about. At least I hope others will find this list useful.

  • *Sager/Prostar Clevo w 9th gen i7 + RTX 2060 for $1299 - 500GB ssd, 16gb RAM, 144hz (no gsync but eh)Probably the most tempting laptop. It's seems super cheap for a RTX 2060; might be the best bang for the buck laptop out there. But some others seem good enough and a bit cheaper such as the Helios and ASUS w AMD. Anyone think the extra $300 over 1660ti laptops is worth for this? I feel like this one I could use for a good three years before changing set up. That it'll last a bit longer. Any drawbacks with Sager/Prostar from anyone else's experience?
  • Acer Helios 300 for $1088 - GTX1660ti; 144hz; 16GB DDR4; 256gb PCIe NVMe SSDMost affordable and well regarded option but I'm not sure abut the 256gb ssd. The higher storage ones cost a few hundred more but they were only a bit more expensive a few days ago. I like playing FIFA, Witcher 3, Metro, TW3K and some relatively newer games. Just not sure if the 256gb ssd is enough. Might have to constantly install and uninstall. The price-tag is really hard to resist, though. But maybe it's worth spending a bit more on the Sager with better storage and graphics card.
  • ASUS ROG Strix GL702VI for $1100 but through some discounts I can get to as low as $1039; i5-7200HQ; GTX1080; G-Sync (but 60Hz); 256gb SSD + 1TB HDDThis seems like an amazing deal. But the responses have been mixed. But a $1k laptop with gtx 1080 that will last about a year or two seem too good to be true. A bit suss but hella cheap. But again... for the lowest pricetag, a gtx 1080 that will last me a year or two.
  • ASUS w AMD Ryzen 7 + GTX 1660 ti for $1134Seems like another cheap good deal. But are ASUS laptops just not that well regarded? A lot of mixed reviews. But I like the design, the thinness. Plus it has a good entry graphics card.
  • ASUS ROG Zephyrus for $1311 - This one has a GTX 1070, 7th gen i7, 16gb ram, and 256gb ssd. Once again, ASUS isn't well received in amazon. This one's a bit more expensive than the Sager/Prostar. But I like the slim design and the GPU cards should be more or less equal, right?
  • ASUS ROG Strix Hero II for $1372 - 8th gen i7, RTX 2060, 16 GB RAM, 521gb PCIe SSD
  • Acer Helios 300 for $1384 - Only difference is bigger storage, 512 gbs this time. Same GTX 1660 ti and everything else. Considering there are cheaper laptops with seemingly better specs, maybe not worth the extra $300? Plus the others around this range seem to offer better bang for the buck.
  • Acer Helios 500 for $1400 - AMD Ryzen 7 2700, Radeon RX Vega 56; Vega 56 seems like a really good card. But should I be considering this when there are rtx 2060 n gtx 1080 laptops available for cheaper or around the same price?
  • Sager RTX 2070 for $1499 - Seems like a great deal for a 2070 card. But might still be pretty pricey for me. Yet considering some of the others, for value, this seems really good
  • Acer Triton 700 for $1502.49 - GTX 1080 w G-Sync 120Hz, 512GB SSD. Again, like teh Sager, this seems like an amazing deal for the card and monitor. Only drawback I see is the trackpad
  • ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501 for $1549 - GTX1080 w 144Hz G-Sync, 16 GB RAM, 512GB SSD, 8th gen i7Similar price range as the previous two. I like the Zephyrus design better but that's really about it. But like the other ASUS laptops, it has mixed responses.

Just for reference, I bought my previous laptop (now blue screened and unusable) four years ago. I wasn't (and still am not) very tech savvy so I wasn’t sure if it was a good gaming laptop back then. But these are the specs for my ASUS A501U: 6th gen i7; GTX 950M; 126gb ssd + 500gb hdd. I'm sure any one of these laptops will be great compared to my mingy 950M.

Which one of these would you guys recommend? Thoughts on how black friday might change the price? Should I wait for BF or just get one sooner?

I bought my laptop from Amazon. Was a little worried about it being damaged during shipping but I was confident that Amazon would make things right if that happened. I bought directly from Amazon, rather than from a 3rd party seller (make sure it says "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" under the Buy button.) Unfortunately for me, when I bought it, it was $1,199 but fortunately for you, it is now $1,088. I'm honestly very surprised they lowered the price like that, considering it was already a steal at $1200 (IMO.) Oh, and for the record, I had no issues with damages during shipping. The laptop was in a box which was in a box which was in another box and there was plenty of protective elements within those boxes.

I have not had too many issues with my thermals, although this is my first gaming laptop so I don't have much to compare it to. I did a lot of reading before buying though so from what I have seen, I think it does a good job of keeping the components cool, even under heavy loads. The highest I have seen it go is around 85°C but once it gets over 80°, I usually either turn the fans up higher and/or get out my cooling pad (I bought this one from Amazon and have been pleased with it.) However, the fans can get really loud, so I use a headset when I have to turn the fans up. In general, the fans are not too loud, though (once again, just my opinion.) I will often play shows on Netflix or Hulu and can hear everything through the laptop speakers with no issues. I do carry around a portable bluetooth speaker for louder environments but when I'm just sitting at home, it is not needed.

I do remember reading that the older models of the Helios 300 (the ones with red accents and backlighting) had a lot of thermal issues and most people who either reviewed both or just owned both said that this model was significantly better in that regard. One thing that I have thought about doing is changing the thermal paste because that would apparently really help the older models but I have not seen any reports of anyone trying it with the 2019 model. I might just give it a shot because it seems like a very cheap and relatively easy way to shave a couple degrees off the temps. I'll have to look into that some more.

I actually have heard of that good xbox gamepass deal but I had no idea that it had PC games. As someone who has pretty much only gamed on PlayStation (at least since the early 2000's), I often forget that Xbox is owned by Microsoft so it makes sense they would have PC games. I will definitely be signing up for that after I finish writing this comment. Thank you so much for clueing me in.

One other thing, you will probably want to quickly buy another m.2 SSD because the one that comes with the laptop is fairly small. Just be careful about the one you buy because they are not all compatible, apparently. I am pretty sure that Acer has a list out there somewhere (though I don't think the list is all inclusive) but I bought this Sabrent 1TB drive based on what another reddit user recommended and have been very happy with it. It was extremely easy to install as well. I haven't gotten around to buying an 2.5" drive yet but I'll probably pick up a very large HDD around Christmas time. Or I might go for the SSD, maybe sacrificing a little bit of storage. I'll have to check prices at the time and think on that some more.

And no problem. I love talking about this laptop and I also enjoying helping people out so no worries. If you think of anything else you want to ask, I'll be here. If not, enjoy your new laptop!

u/Authoriterative · 1 pointr/GamingLaptops

Personally, I'd go for #1 just because of the 1650. The newer CPU is nice too, but not a huge impact. The only issue is the tiny SSD, which you'll definitely need to upgrade, so that's a cost consideration. If it were me, I'd be upgrading it in either one though, so maybe a moot point.

Have you looked at a G3 instead of 5? The new model is on sale in several places right now, and gets you a better GPU (It's Max-Q, but still runs very smoothly at high settings) and a 512GB SSD. RAM is 2x4GB, so comes dual-channel out of the box. Only 60hz screen, but if you're looking for "bang for your buck", it's hard to beat: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-G3-3590-Laptop-Generation/dp/B07WVRCWYK/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=gaming+laptop&qid=1573242351&refinements=p_n_feature_seven_browse-bin%3A18107821011%2Cp_36%3A70000-85000&rnid=386442011&s=pc&sr=1-7

Some people have reported heat throttling issues, but I have played several hours of Destiny 2 on it so far with no issues at all, so it probably depends on what you're playing. I got one for $800 at Best Buy last week, so expect it will come down again soon.

Alternatively, Is there a reason you're looking specifically at Dell? There are lots of deals going on right now which can get you more for your money. Here are a few:

u/Dynamite1984 · 3 pointsr/GamingLaptops

Here are two that I would recommend (might be a little more than you listed for price):

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Zephyrus-IPS-Type-i7-8750H-GX531GS-AH76/dp/B07L38HQGY/ref=sr_1_8?crid=3UTHMF63NTLCV&keywords=asus+zephyrus&qid=1570898519&sprefix=Asus++Zeph%2Caps%2C150&sr=8-8

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S GX531GS-AH76

(this price is NOT going to last long, NewEgg has same one at $1600 USD)

It will be able to handle games no problem, your biggest struggle will be keyboard layout depending on if you have surface to put it on and battery life. You will have to work at setting a power profile for while you are not gaming. Looking at many reviews through amazon, here, best buy, and other computer websites, your looking at a best of 4 hours but more likely 3.5 hours. This will be able to handle games well, and for a long time. Its benchmarks are surpassing most RTX2060 rigs and some lower end 2070 rigs depending on components.

Dell G5

https://www.newegg.com/p/2WC-0009-00407?Item=9SIAEYJ9FY4180

7 hour battery life. Decent internals with 2 HD's so you have extra storage. Price range is on your lower request. If you want more gaming power, goto the Dell G7 which will give you more guts but put you up to the $1k mark but bring battery down to 5 hours (https://www.newegg.com/black-dell-g-series-g-15-gaming-entertainment/p/2WC-0009-000T5?Item=9SIA24GA0Y2223).

Lenovo Legion

Has been seen to run up to 9 hours on battery but my guess this would be from a lower spec'd device. Here is a newegg search if you want to review the options https://www.newegg.com/p/pl?d=Lenovo%20Legion%20Y540&Order=PRICE . They are known for good thermals, decent fan noise, and quality build. Overall I would hunt for a GTX1660ti and as much RAM as possible. Portable storage is cheap if you can or already have a portable USB drive for storing your personal stuff (pictures, school work, etc.) . Here is one that is a little over your budget but would get the job done extremely well:https://www.newegg.com/p/1XV-0001-00SP9?Description=Lenovo%20Legion%20Y540&cm_re=Lenovo_Legion_Y540-_-9SIAHRC9MT9744-_-Product)

I hope this helps, Acer Nitro's are also good machines but I personally have never touched or played with one. These three options I have personally used or played with (my friend has a Legion which he recommends as he now has a 740).

Good Luck in your search, my recommendation is the ASUS but I want more of a gaming machine than everyday use.

I was gonna say the a weorus does look ugly lol. Although aesthetics depend on personal taste these are some which I think look based on popular opinion.

https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-AERO-15-W9-RT4P-i7-8750H-Keyboard/dp/B07PP4JFZV/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=aero+rtx+2060&qid=1573736335&sr=8-3

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-8750H-Keyboard-PT515-51-71VV/dp/B07NDVGYZQ/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=triton+500+rtx+2060&qid=1573736378&sr=8-4

This one is thin, light, great performance, great thermals but has an inverted motherboard. Honestly can't go wrong with it.

https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GS65-Stealth-006-Gaming-i7-8750H/dp/B07PHNZBDV/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=msi+gs65+rtx+2060&qid=1573736470&sprefix=msi+gs65+&sr=8-3

One of the sexiest laptops ever made. Doesn't scream gamery but it packs a lot of power in a super thin chassis. Although it might run a little hot (some people have issues with thermals, some say its great... hard to say since I don't own one)

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH315-52-72EV/dp/B07QVM5X91/ref=mp_s_a_1_4?keywords=acer+helios+300+rtx+2060&qid=1573736641&sr=8-4

The MVP of 2019. Great laptop although not as thin and light as the previous two. But still a beast and can beat laptops costing much more with raw power. But it looks too gamery.

I'd say Triton > MSI = Helios 300 > Aero.

Hope this helps.

u/FloydWonder · 1 pointr/GamingLaptops

Thank you, I think after reading your response I'm definitely going to replace it. I suppose my budget is a little more flexible, if something that's around $2,000 maintains a decent cost-to-performance ratio. $1600 is an ideal that may not be realized.

Found the 17.3" Acer Predator Helios 300 w/ 1660ti / 512GB SSD for $1,249 on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-9750H-Keyboard-PH317-53-7777/dp/B07V4QFKDM/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=acer+predator+helios+300+17%22&qid=1573509298&s=electronics&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&sr=1-6

Also found an ASUS ROG Strix Scar II for $1699 with an 8750H and a full 2070 for $1,699:

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-IPS-Type-GeForce-i7-8750H-Processor/dp/B07N3LGZL9/ref=pd_cp_147_1/138-8260141-5601805?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07N3LGZL9&pd_rd_r=e5d8b08b-fbd2-4d11-b13e-b65d81d48996&pd_rd_w=WwAxw&pd_rd_wg=WbPxn&pf_rd_p=0e5324e1-c848-4872-bbd5-5be6baedf80e&pf_rd_r=VBEYH3ARMGRFV30S3D2Q&psc=1&refRID=VBEYH3ARMGRFV30S3D2Q

There's plenty of stuff in the $2,000 range, but I don't know if roughly 5% gains on performance jumping from an 8750H to a 9750H is worth $300 to me. There would need to be other factors, like greatly improved thermals and color accuracy / display quality to justify it. The SCAR III/Hero is a shining example of this. I'm unsure if the cooling is that much better than the previous chassis to justify itself.

And, quite simply, an RTX 2070 could be overkill for my use case. Just want the least amount of latency possible in a 17.3" frame.

Update: I could also wait until BF for a Lenovo Legion 740 w/ 2070MQ / 256+1T combo storage for $1,279. That may be hard to beat on price per $, even if I am getting a Max-Q card.

There are some reviews on this model.

I don't recommend to buy from that link, since that link includes the "Vivid Color 94%" display (which is a ChiMei TN display with washed out grayish blacks and poor vertical viewing angles despite its high color gamut) but it's got some reviews.

Which display does this have? I would be more concerned with making sure this particular model has the IPS display and not the "vivid color 94%" TN display.

I would recommend this one instead: https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GE62VR-Apache-Pro-026-i7-6700HQ/dp/B01IS33QWY/ since the build is metal instead of plastic, the GPU is better (GTX 1060), and the screen is IPS. i7-6700HQ vs i7-7700HQ shouldn't make much of a difference, since the main advantage of the new 7700HQ CPU is the better integrated graphics, which won't matter much for you since you have a dedicated GPU. And the better GPU far overshadows the difference between the CPUs.

u/-bxp · 1 pointr/GamingLaptops

I have an old Logitech G13 which I found super useful and way more comfortable than a laptop keyboard, especially for FPS. I would say have a look at something like the Redragon K585 DITI. If you have a look there's lots at pretty cheap prices that review well. The small form factor of this makes it easy to travel with. So one of these and a mouse means you're good to go.

u/Dtaggart91 · 1 pointr/GamingLaptops

I am getting the HP Omen 15, 144hz screen, 1070 max-q, 32 gb Ram, 500 ssd, $1500.

https://www.amazon.com/HP-Refresh-i7-8750H-5HS21UA-ABA/dp/B07H9XPF1S/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=15-dc0045nr&qid=1549943415&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Matches the specs of the ones above and I really like the layout. Might be thicker but its not a Alienware brick.

Its a good inbetween one. I also bought a 1tb ssd for storage, so add that to the price.

The scar doesn't have a thunderbolt or I would of gone for it maybe.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus S, This one was cool but the keyboard layout was not in the normal spot and I wasn't sure if id like it. Plus it isn't great for using in while in your lap. Lol its funny because its called a laptop. Otherwise this one is nice and runs really cool.

As for the MSI ones, I can't say I looked into these close enough to give an opinion, but I bought a MSI 2 years ago and was not impressed. I was getting lag just moving the mouse on the desktop, could of been a lemon but I ended up returning it and its put me off ever since.

u/jaeger01 · 1 pointr/GamingLaptops

800$ is a tough budget to work with, if you can push a 100$ more, i suggest you get this https://www.amazon.com/Gaming-TUF505DU-KB71-GTX1660Ti-Windows-Notebook/dp/B07S37JY44/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=1660Ti+laptop&qid=1562127575&s=electronics&sr=1-5

It's an ASUS TUF series, retails for about 999$. but with this you will get a really capable GPU, the 1660Ti. this would be much more future proof in comparison to all the laptops you have listed. just FYI, its a Ryzen processor and 8GB of RAM, you can upgrade the RAM down the line. the 16GB RAM varient costs around 1100$.

If you need an opinion on the laptops you have listed, the G3 is the safest bet for gaming.

you could also wait for the newer generation dell G3/G5 to come out, you might have to wait for little more than a month at least.

i recommend buying a 1660Ti laptop, as it is a significant increase in performance and thermals compared to last gen 1050/1060. if you buy an older Gen GPU now it is going to get real old real fast. so its better to shell out the extra 100$ and buy something current Gen.

u/saguad · 1 pointr/GamingLaptops

That sucks man. I have the same problem and I refuse to change the laptop because besides that it works perfect. I couldn't find any laptop stand big enough to fit in my table and big enough to fit my laptop with a keyboard underneath.

So I just got a regular stand and play games with the keyboard at an angle. Like this:

https://i.imgur.com/hb5tH1B.jpg

So the keys I use during games are under the stand and with the angle my wrist has a enough space to rest in the table. If you have a 60% keyboard it should work even better.

I got the Elekin stand, but I guess any would be good.

You could look around a little bit on sites like Amazon. One laptop I can recommend is this one https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Gaming-Processor-Gigabit-Windows/dp/B07M9SMWMS/ref=as_li_ss_tl?keywords=gaming+laptop&qid=1565450141&s=gateway&sr=8-4&linkCode=ll1&tag=type1health-20&linkId=81f6e1b2315f4214387270308cd3f6ab&language=en_US

A friend of me uses it and he says it is a good laptop for the price. But still, if I were you, look around and ask some more people if you would like to be sure :)

u/socrampy · 1 pointr/GamingLaptops

First of all, great post.

I'm trying to decide which laptop to buy, whatever gives the best performance for the price.

I think that the non-mxq 2070 is the best bet for price/perf, since its quite faster than the 2060 and not that far from 2080 (since 2080s are at least $900-1000 more)

I couldn't find much info about this two, but for the price, I'm thinking on getting one of these:

AORUS 15-X9-RT4BD

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MW5YKZC/ref=ox_sc_saved_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

they are supposed to be full 2070 (not maxq) so that is pretty close to a 2080 maxq for way less $

Of course if you think there's something better let me know.

u/grendelone · 3 pointsr/GamingLaptops

You can get a very nice performing laptop for $2k.

For your CE programs, do you do much CAD/CAM/3D modeling? Matlab? What capabilities do you need for them?

For you best bang for your buck, I'd suggest finding something with a RTX 2060, 16GB memory, 512GB SSD, 15" 144Hz IPS screen, and an Intel i7 processor. You may want to bump the memory up to 32GB if your CE software is memory hungry or you deal with large model databases.

So something like an Acer Triton 500 ( https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-i7-8750H-Keyboard-PT515-51-71VV/dp/B07NDVGYZQ ) that goes for $1800. Other similar laptops would be the MSI GS65 Stealth, Gigabyte Aero 15, Lenovo Y740, Alienware m15, or any number of ASUS machines. You could go for a Razer, but there's an additional price bump for the better construction and aesthetics.

Keep an eye on the LaptopDeals sub ( https://www.reddit.com/r/LaptopDeals/ ). There are some really good deals that pop up but disappear fast, like an MSI GS65 with RTX2060 for $1400 a little while ago.

Sager NP8957 0.78 Inches Thin & Light Gaming Laptop, 15.6 Inches FHD 144Hz Display, Intel Core i7-9750H, NVIDIA RTX 2070 8GB DDR6, 16GB RAM, 500GB NVMe SSD, Windows 10 Home https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SYF46YL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_nbEqDb8X09EYJ

These have intrigued me for a couple of weeks now. Rave reviews about this thing and getting a 2070 at $1,500 is absolutely bonkers value. From what I understand, they use kind of like a stock model type of build which is why it’s so cheap. It’s not going to be a sleek brand name setup, but wow it has some serious power. All reviews on Amazon are saying people love it.

Depends on what you do in your personal and professional life. I work in sales so I travel 2-3 times a month and I like to game on the road. So I bought a gaming laptop. If I were looking to save money and was home more, I would most likely buy a desktop (reasons below).

Laptop Pros:

Portable

Nowadays you can expect to get 3-4 years out of them

Work-life balance

Laptop Cons:

Most laptops cannot be upgraded outside of RAM and hard drives

More expensive

Loud (most in the 800-1.2k range)

Depending on the model, the keyboard and touch pad will likely suck ( I use a wireless keyboard and mouse w/ a monitor at home).

Sounds weird, but you have to research the shit out of which processors and built in cards are going to give you the best bang for the buck and handle future games.

How about the [MSI GL63] (https://www.amazon.com/MSI-GL63-9SDK-614-i7-9750H-GTX1660Ti/dp/B07Q433V3T/ref=as_li_ss_tl?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJQYFXGBZ6MDO67HQ&linkCode=ll1&tag=gaming0789-20&linkId=8d5b14fb89a933c22e0efb72f455c47d&language=en_US) which consist of a new and powerful 1660 ti gpu which is best under the price you mentioned and also consist of 256 ssd and 1 tb hdd. only drawback i see is the battery life of 4 hours. You also have the [Eluktronics MECH-15 G2Rx Slim & Light] (https://www.amazon.com/Eluktronics-MECH-15-GeForce-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B07QXTT9TY/ref=as_li_ss_tl?psc=1&SubscriptionId=AKIAJQYFXGBZ6MDO67HQ&linkCode=ll1&tag=gaming0789-20&linkId=c13866858fbc6c920fa5bdb7c50c0570&language=en_US) with a rtx 2060 gpu and a powerful i7 9th gen processor which is really fast, 5 hours of battery life and it has a 512 gb ssd.

I still really like the Aero 15 classic. Very good sale price. Great all around. Big battery.

You can consider the UHD OLED screen, better for editing, worse for gaming and battery.

Been researching around the $1200-$2000 price range for a while now. Front runners so far are:

1.) Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED SA (8GB / 256GB / 1660TI base model @ $1699) - The next comparable gaming laptop that has an OLED panel is about $3000 unless you want to go clevo.

2.) Razer Blade 15 (9750H / 1660TI / 16GB RAM / 512GB NVME / 144HZ LCD) The screen on this unit is more suited for high paced action games, but I much prefer the color accuracy / HDR / 4k aspect of the gigabyte OLED. This model was around $1999 by the way.

Both of these laptops are "premium" designs, meaning they use premium build quality components (the gigabyte uses samsung RAM, intel SSDs etc whereas the Blade has a unibody aluminum design. The Aero has superior battery life due to it's massive 94whr battery.

Due to the OLED screen (great for single player games / non-fps games as well as content creation) I'm probably going to pick the Gigabyte myself.

I'm looking at the Aero 15. Specifically this skew, w/ i7-9750H/1660ti/144hz/1080p. However, I would really like the refresh (with the gap below the screen) with the same specs, not the classic, due to better thermals. I see one listed on Gigabyte's site here; listed as the AERO 15S SA. (pic).

It's exactly what I want. Problem is, I can't find a listing for it anywhere except for on AUS sites (I'm in the US). Does anyone know if it can be bought in the US; or if there's a different skew that matches my needs? (1080p/144hz/non-OLED).

Thanks!

This one has been reviewed well, and has 4.5 stars on Amazon with thousands of votes:

Its the one I'm likely to purchase when Lenovo decides it wants to actually ship my Y740.

I was recently in the same situation as you and I went with the Asus ROG Zephyrus S.

If you're looking for something extremely thin and light, yet also powerful, you can't go wrong with this. The only complaint I have is the RTX versions only come with 500 GB of storage, and if you want to upgrade, due to how cramped it is inside there's only room for a single NVMe M.2 SSD.

My Alienware 17R3 just went up with a poof of smoke this morning. Saw your post and started digging. I like it a lot and ordered this version

last i checked, the checkout price for this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q433V3T/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_X2y4CbSZ0E2YR

has 60$ shipping which i guess includes all import charges. I have seen ryzen 7 but performance is more important for me than battery life. And the reason i am waiting for nitro is because it will give same configuration as above laptop for <1100$.

I feel like more and more of these no name brands or weird ass brands are popping up. As far as I understand none of them are all that bad. Honestly they're all in the same ballpark of performance. They tend to compromise in very small areas like panel pixel response, storage capacity, keyboard. But even then, they totally do a 3+ to 4.5 star job on it all. Call it 'acceptable' with a sprinkle of nice occasionally. 500GB? Okay. SSD nice. Etc.

Eluktronics for example: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07N7GYZV2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_c1MrDbV02D5G6

D2D posted a video review on it too

And Sager here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SYF46YL/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_h3MrDbGGE9E82

Not to mention Walmart OP brand.

To me, I don't see much wrong with them. They tend to take a decent and balanced design, slap their brand on it and sell it for some mark. So I wouldn't say you're making a bad decision, I'd just call it a budget decision. But it's up to you if you're gonna call for a laptop with all the bells and whistles or the $1,400 budget.

Any info on pricing? Just bought a GX531G for a business trip. Should I return this and wait for the 9th Gen chips? If price gap is not that big, I'll probably just go with the new stuff (Zephyrus S GX502). Got 30 days to decide I guess.
