>But generally, how do I enter the workforce or build a reputation for myself?

--
The most COMMON -- or at least the most commonly successful -- way...
--
...is to apply & get a "first job" (even part time and WHILE still in school if possible) somewhere that family and/or friends (including "friends of family") have contacts, and can at least get you an "interview" with someone doing the hiring, if not "leverage" to get you the job itself.

Then you work (pardon the wording) from that initial position -- or at least get the experience of having been in at least ONE or TWO interviews; and likely gotten some feedback from them -- use that as a base and build on it.

--
Also, study this image -- most people go about LOOKING for a job in a "bass-ackwards" fashion compared to the way the people HIRING look for people too hire.

--
Basically there are TWO ways people get jobs: the "passive" way (applying for some job opening that is being widely & openly advertised) -- and the "active" way (where they seek out being hired by a firm they REALLY WANT to work for).
--
Also, especially when it comes to your "artsy" and "literature/editorial" stuff... well believe it or not there ARE things you can do while still in high school that can create a sort of "novice/beginners portfolio" of your "work": I'm talking about things like the school newspaper and/or class yearbook. Could be pieces of artwork, photographs, writing, or even serving as an "editor" (the guy who pulls all that together) of one or or the other -- sure it's not "professional" level stuff, and you didn't get PAID to produce it, but it CAN reveal whether you have SOME initial level of "talent/skill" and to what degree you've developed it.

--
You CAN even go beyond that in building a "portfolio"... volunteer to write, take pictures, create artwork for, or edit/assemble some publication for your church, or some other local organization: do up some creative "posters" for some local pet shelter; or various logo designs (including stuff that got rejected) for some classmate's band (who cares if they ever actually got paid to play); the local volunteer firehouse & EMT squad; whatever you can find.

--
It's NOT even unheard of for people still in school to write some "column" for a local community newspaper -- they may or may not "pay" you if they print it, but you can plop the piece (modified & improved after getting feedback, even a "rejection") into your portfolio regardless of whether it gets printed or not -- oh and as to WHAT you should write about... Well play "cub reporter" and write about some community event, some community groups, maybe dig into some local history and write (or draw or whatever) something related to local "history" especially if/when some "anniversary" is near (any 5 year increment of any community, group, institution, etc) -- a HUGE part of building a portfolio is to demonstrate your "go getter" attitude, which includes a bit of creativity as well (in even coming UP with things to include, projects you've worked on {even just as a helper, assistant or observer}, things you've created on your own initiative).

--
Oh, and go visit a local library (or order the ebook or print version) of a book called "What Color Is Your Parachute?" -- note a new (tweaked) "edition" is published every year (most libraries will have at least ONE copy from a relatively recent year); but frankly it doesn't MATTER which edition or "year" version you get your hands on, the CORE advice & lessons in the book are essentially the same and pretty much have been since the thing was first published decades ago (circa 1970's) -- all that changes is some minor "tweaking" regarding expectations for content on resumes and things like "online" search services & research capabilities.

--
I personally followed the advice in that book right out of high school (early 1980's, yeah I'm an old fart), and it's advice continued to serve me VERY well across all the decades since (both in GETTING jobs AND in being the guy doing the hiring!)

--
Just about EVERY job (with ONE exception) I have gotten has been as a result of the methods in that book -- sure I also applied to a shitload of advertised "job openings" and frankly I only ever got ONE of those jobs (lots of interviews... of varying value, some interesting & helpful, most a waste of time) -- but I did successfully get the rest of my jobs (most of them never, or at least "not yet" advertised as being "open" positions -- I got interviewed AND hired BEFORE they placed any ads -- BTW that's what happens with like 80% of jobs, someone gets in the door well ahead of the "crowd"; and effectively closes the door behind them {Ha Ha suckers... beat you to it!})

---
EDIT: Oh, also... contrary to what just about everyone ELSE tells you don't "fret" about your frigging school grades; so long as you're getting relatively "good" grades (above average, i.e. mostly A's a few B's) -- well frankly, employers DON'T GIVE A SHIT -- vastly more important will be a "portfolio" of things you've done (especially in regards to any "creative" work mentioned above); and REFERENCES from people who you have worked with ON various projects (stuff that would count as "work experience" even if unpaid -- so that someone "respected" {and who knows what they do for THEIR day job} who you worked with on some "church/community/civic" project will be MORE than willing to be a reference for you and will likely {HONESTLY} say something like: "Oh, GizmoRazaar? Yes, he's a real go-getter, bright guy & hard worker... willing to step up and do a bit extra, doesn't seem to mind doing even tedious work, and always has a good attitude... everyone here loved working with him! Yes, I'd highly recommend you give him serious consideration... [etc]") All of that counts HELLUVA lot more than whether you got B+ or an A- in health or gym class.

Again, that DOESN'T mean you should blow off your studies -- it's just that they're not anywhere NEAR "as important" to your future job prospects as your school teachers would like you to believe. (In fact, if you demonstrate that you know how to write, have things that so evidence of other basic skills -- math, etc -- well employers probably won't even check whether you have high school diploma {and they truly couldn't care less what your Freshman "Social Studies" teacher wrote on your so called "permanent record" -- THAT stuff is complete bullshit, which NO ONE in business cares about, ever}.)

Hey there. I think your numbers are a bit off. 99% is not indicated in your source at least. I checked up on your source.

While it turns out the book published by Napoleon Hill based on his 20 year observation period does contain one point, number 10 of 13, regarding sexual energy, it does not mention any statistic based on how many of his observed millionaires attained their success in virtue of this point.

While it is true that Hill wrote:

>Sex desire is the most powerful of human desires. When driven by this desire, men develop keenness of imagination, courage, willpower, persistence, and creative ability unknown to them at other times.
>
>Love, romance, and sex are all emotions capable of driving men to heights of super achievement. When combined, these three emotions may lift one to an altitude of genius.

Note however that Hill does not specifically say satisfaction of sexual desire, only that these 'energies' (his word) are potent drivers for success.

Hill also mentioned in his last point, number 13, called the “sixth sense”, that

>“Through the aid of the sixth sense, you will be warned of impending dangers in time to avoid them, and notified of opportunities in time to embrace them.”

The article in question states regarding point 13 that

>Hill admits this sense is generally not attained until age 40 — his basic claim is that your intuition will change. You’ll have achieved a level of wisdom that will allow you to start making smart financial and life decisions naturally.

Also, the only source the article listed for claim #10 was this article (from the same web page, mind) which references a 2015 study which claims that "Having a conscientious spouse can boost your salary by $4,000 a year."

The claim is based on this study (the file has been removed) by Brittany C. Solomon and Joshua J. Jackson of Washington University in St. Louis. According to the 2015 article,

>Solomon and Jackson looked at data collected from thousands of Australian households to analyse the impact of a spouse’s personality characteristics on an employee’s career prosperity.
>
>They found that of the “big five” personality traits — agreeableness, conscientiousness, extroversion, neuroticism, and openness — only conscientiousness affected work outcomes.

Interestingly, another psychologist, Jordan Peterson, also talks about conscientiousness a great deal, and states that it is the trait most associated with career performance.

The 2015 article states

The researchers provided three reasons why this trait is correlated with income, promotions, and job satisfaction:

>1. Conscientious spouses tend to handle more household chores and planning. This allows their partner to focus more on their career, or simply to have time to mentally recharge and unwind at the end of a workday.
>
>2. People with conscientious spouses generally feel more satisfied with their marriage. An emotionally stable marriage without constant drama and stress at home allows them to bring more energy — physical and emotional — to work.
>
>3. Oftentimes, traits of a conscientious spouse
rub off on their partner. These characteristics, such as organisation, diligence, and attentiveness, can have a positive influence on their careers.
>
>If you want to get ahead at work, it’s important to understand how much your partner’s personality influences your success (and vice versa) — and you may want to start screening your dates for signs of conscientiousness.

As an additional reference they also pointed to this Harvard Business Review Article: https://hbr.org/2014/11/the-one-thing-about-your-spouses-personality-that-affects-your-career

Now, having said all that, I ask you to consider how likely it is to find such a spouse. Not only is conscientiousness an attractive trait, which the article proposes contributes to a relationship with less drama and less stress at home. We know divorce stats are around 50% (give and take), and assuming 50% of those are "Happy marriages" (I happen to think it is less than that, but ok). That would mean 25% of marriages are relatively stable. There are fewer conscientiousness people out there than 25% of the population.

Even if Hill's observations on sexual energy translated into successful sexual intercourse, and even if that translated into a successful marriage, and even if you could land such a marriage with a conscientious individual, to state that 99% of highly successful people have gained their energy from love and sex is, in my opinion, unfounded.

Anyways, thanks for the research challenge. Was fun.

So, I have major depressive disorder. I did the whole psychiatrist route. Didn't do shit for me. Hated how the meds made me feel. (I didn't know it then, but medication only has a 30% success rate for patients.)

I recommend the following; The Depression Cure; https://www.amazon.com/Depression-Cure-6-Step-Program-without/dp/0738213888 (This has good guidelines on supplementation, exercise, light therapy, etc...)

The Mind Illuminated; https://www.amazon.com/Mind-Illuminated-Meditation-Integrating-Mindfulness/dp/1501156985/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522172217&sr=8-1&keywords=the+mind+illuminated

This is the most comprehensive meditation book I've read. Developing a meditation practice has been the single most helpful change for me. (The others are very important too.) Being able to meditate is like a super power. The vast majority of people today cannot sit alone in a room for more than 15 minutes without entertainment without totally freaking out. Plus it can lead to extremely joyful states called the Jannas. Also, Buddhism is an awesome philosophy and the neurological benefits of meditation are both real and being actively studied intensely right now by neuroscientists.

Finally, I'd recommend getting your diet right. I've tried alot of different diets. Quite a few people seem to do really well with Keto, but I didn't really enjoy it overall. My current setup is a "Whole Foods Plant Based Diet." Basically just fruits, vegetables, beans, starches, and nuts. It's easy to make meals, you can eat a large volume of food, (I enjoy eating, and the caloric density of vegetables is very low.) and it's extremely cheap.

Depression is a manageable issue. (It just makes itself very hard to manage because you don't feel like doing anything.) With some dedication you can get yourself functional.

P.S: There have been some recent studies on using Magic Mushrooms to treat depression that have had great success. I'm not sure if you'd be able to access that in your situation, but if you are able to certainly give them a shot. Start with 1.5-2g for your first trip and do some research ahead of time and make sure you have a babysitter and a good positive setting.

Hey buddy, I will probably get banned for posting a comment but I would really like to help. First of all to all MGTOW, as a woman I want to apologize. As a woman I have seen and heard women do and say terrible things. But I digress.. My suggestion is: arm yourself! Know what to look for in a healthy partner. Also know EXACTLY what you want in a partner so you know her when you see her. Be prepared to have your time wasted. Do not get caught in the "well...I've spent this much time with her I can't give up or all the time will be wasted." If you find yourself in a relationship, re-evaluate every 2-3 months to make sure you are happy and she isn't a total bitch. You may need to take a weekend away to do this. If you find you are unhappy, END IT. Do not think she will "change" or "come around" or "she's going through a rough patch"

I suggest reading about how to identify and handle narcissists. "Safe people" by Henry Cloud is good. Also "Disarming the Narcissists".
https://www.amazon.com/Safe-People-Relationships-Avoid-Those/dp/0310345790

The boundaries in dating/marriage series is also good. There is quite a bit that you have to take with a grain of salt because the author is fairly religious. (No sex before marriage/ no cohabiting before marriage, pshhhh yeah right)

Don't throw up in your mouth, but this is a great book on how to find love:
https://www.amazon.com/Are-You-One-Me-Avoiding/dp/0440215757

Don't shy away from a book because it might be "blue pilled". Just take some things with a grain of salt. If you want love you have to pursue it. You have to do the research to know how to find it. Remember we have the right to PURSUE happiness it isn't given to us on a silver platter.

If a woman has a drug problem do not pursue her.
If a woman is pressuring you to get married, get out. Things should always feel natural and evolving, there shouldn't be temper tantrums and stomping feet to get their way.
If a woman doesn't have a career (not a job a CAREER) do not pursue her. She must have a career.
Good Luck, I wish you the best.
