It depends on the caliber. You don't need an adjustable gas block with 300 blk, but it can help a lot with 5.56. With 5.56, you will generally want an adjustable gas block to limit the gas, an adjustable bolt carrier to vent the gas or, at the very least, an H2 buffer to slow down the bolt carrier.

The adjustable gas block is the most elegant solution, but an adjustable bolt carrier works well and is easier to install for most people. A heavier buffer will help it cycle reliably, but it will still be overgassed.

If you already have an adjustable gas block installed and your handguard holes don't align well with the adjustment screw, you might be able to get to it using ball end hex keys, like these Tekton ones. These will allow you some leeway in terms of the angle you need to get to it. If the area is just completely blocked off, you will have to take off the handguard.

This.

I recommend VHT paint. I painted my car's turbo manifold, turbine housing and downpipe with the shit and after about 20k miles it still looks good.

I have found Hydro-Seal II to be very good at removing deposits.

You don't want to breathe the fumes or get it on you skin. Plug one end of the suppressor, fill it with hydro-seal and leave it over night (or a couple days if need be). Then empty it and run a test tube brush through the suppressor and flush it clean with something like Gunk carb spray.

Don't use OLD used Hydro-Seal as it will build up acids which can attack metal catastrophically. The clean HS will not harm metals. I once soaked a motorcycle carb in a bucket of old HS and forgot about it. A couple months later I pulled up the basket and the entire carburetor had dissolved into a lump of gray mush. I also placed a painted padlock key into the bucket and forgot about it, when I pulled the basket, the key was there and bright and shiney. When I tried to pick it up it just disintegrated. The HS had dissolved all the brass and left only the chrome plating which instantly broke apart when I touched it.

You can get it at some of the better auto parts stores. Here's a link to Amazon for four gallons of it.

http://www.amazon.com/Gunk-HS3-4PK-Hydro-Heavy-Cleaner/dp/B00BGSF92E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463169354&sr=8-1&keywords=Gunk+HS3-4PK+Hydro+Seal+Heavy+Duty+Parts+Cleaner

EDIT: I use Hydro Seal II on my suppressors with zero problems. Actually the OLD used HSII works well too you just have to be careful no to expose the metal for too long. I have containers of both. HSII is strange stuff, it becomes increasingly good at cleaning the older it gets but at some point it can be too good.

You should be able to buy all the rockset that Silencershop mentioned here or here. I used it on my AAC FH and brakes. Best of luck!

Throw a piece of high temp tape over the opening. It'll help quite a bit.

Like this: https://www.amazon.com/3M-High-Temperature-Flue-15-Foot/dp/B00004Z4DS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1506484316&sr=8-3&keywords=furnace+tape

Buy one of these too to make nice little ends:
https://www.amazon.com/EK-Tools-Circle-Punch-0-50-Inch/dp/B0090JVDNA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1506484380&sr=8-3&keywords=.5+inch+punch
I guess, since it's .22, you can probably start with some masking tape and see if that smokes eventually.

The pouches aren’t expensive either. Plus they carry nalgenes so... win win.

This is the one I got instead of the Hornady:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00TO4MZ74

I use it for brass cleaning mostly.

It’s got a basket large enough to hold a AR10 bolt carrier group plus the charging handle, various pistol barrels and slides and the top of a Glock frame.

It’s got a pre clean thing where it degasses the water, a heater built in, and 30 minute timer. Most other units have too short a timer.

Bugs the shit out of my dog though.

Tac Sol Rug Mk Series Hlstr High Blk https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006PH9CZG/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_CxrHAbPY61RTP

Same thing, more details: http://blackdogmachinellc.net/holster-for-the-ruger-mark-series.aspx Be sure to read the notes on the 22/45.

Most importantly, measure the diameter of your can. A Spectre II will fit. A Mask HD will not. I know from experience.

Aside from fitting a suppressor, the coolest thing about these holsters is that they let you run a red dot sight as well.

The SiCo Hybrid 46 is a great 'if you only buy one' choice for 9mm & 5.56. Keep in mind that for 9mm pistols, you'll have to use a red dot and/or raised sights to clear the suppressor's diameter.

If you want to use the Hybrid on pistol caliber carbines (e.g., a 9mm AR-15) then you'll kind of have to stick with SiCo's ASR mounting system b/c Dead Air doesn't make 9mm [Key-mo] (https://deadairsilencers.com/product/key-mo/) muzzle attachments (yet). You can use direct thread, but that still requires buying those attachments so might as well purchase quick detach (QD) mounts since they cost roughly the same and if used correctly won't 'walk off' like direct threading can. Oh, and Hybrid endcaps

Those are brackets available lots of places that allow a 2x4 to slip through the top and uses pipe for the legs. Here's one on Amazon:

High Caliber 2x4 Target Hanging Hook Assembly Stand - with Pipe Legs(Leg Bracket, 4 Piece) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G1QDY5G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_dV8ADb6VJDGJC

I use something similar, but the legs are 2x4s bolted on, and folds for storage.

ShootingTargets7 F24 Steel Target Stand - Build Any Size Portable Target Stand - 2x4 Legs Fold for Transport https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C1DM7J6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_d08ADb5DF3G95

He's using fire hose to hang his steel plates, which is a good system if you can score free old hose or don't mind buying some. I do the same thing except I use seat belt webbing.

It took me over two weeks to get the free ones from the ATF.

I got some on Amazon, they are $7.25 for 10 of them and have Prime shipping.

My local PD also gives me them for free though apparently.

Works great. Stays put, catches shells, easy on and off. This model. Inexpensive too.

u/TwoWheeledTraveler · 1 pointr/NFA

Or whatever kind is appropriate. They all have a 3/8" rimfire base machined in to the receiver, so if you have a rimfire scope that has 3/8" mounts you don't need anything. Otherwise the receiver is also drilled and tapped for Weaver #12 mounts and you can pick up a picatinny rail that will fit on those holes.

When it gets time to choose a scope, these things:
https://www.amazon.com/UTG-3-9X32-BugBuster-Scope-Mil-dot/dp/B005UGIMNQ
Are fantastic little scopes for use on this kind of rifle. They have a LOT of features for the money, they come with QD rings, etc. I run this exact one on my 10/22 Takedown Tactical and it's great. I run this scope's bigger brother on my Ruger American Rimfire.

Easier just to answer everybody at once. While I'd love to have a dedicated cabinet, I don't have the room right now. Compressor is a Kobalt quiet tech 1.8hp, 26gal, this one;

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Kobalt-QUIET-TECH-26-Gallon-Portable-Electric-Vertical-Air-Compressor/1001014062

And this is the media gun I bought;

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0785FXQQP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You WILL need a decent moisture trap also.

u/Number1AbeLincolnFan · 6 pointsr/NFA

My rifle cans are dedicated, so they pretty much just stay on the gun.

Rimfire is easy, you can use just about any pistol case and put the cans and tools where the magazines would go, like this one here. You can also store ammo where the pistol would normally go.

Pistol ones go in the pouch they came with or in extra rifle pouches I'm not using. I also have a couple of those Gemtech El Cinco pouches for general transportation.

Misc tools and parts go in organized bins.

I've considered doing a nice Pelican case thing, but 1) the amount I have keeps increasing and 2) I'm not aware of any foam that will allow me to put a hot suppressor right on it. So, heat resistant suppressor pouches it is.

Good looking setup OP. Add you a dehumidifier you can recharge and you will keep it from trapping moisture in there. I have two of these I rotate.
