Annnnnnnnnd here comes the white knight brigade. Ignore them, love, and listen to your self-proclaimed sassy gay friend fairy godmother.

(Just warning, this will be a LONG comment because I love talking about makeup, so if you want to skip the words and just watch the videos I've linked, that's fine. :) )

I'm also an Asian female, but I'm only 5'2, and I would kill to be your height. You probably have mile-long legs and can reach the top shelf in the grocery store, which I envy terribly. With heels you could look like a model (something us shorter girls can't do), so work your height, gurl, and ignore the insecure guys that won't date a taller lady.

Anyways, as for makeup, Youtube is a fantastic resource. There are a whole bunch of very knowledgeable ladies and gentlemen who dispense advice for free, so take advantage of it. You might need to adjust whatever tips you're given slightly to match your needs (when I was first trying out eye makeup gurus telling me to "put xxx on the crease" baffled me, as I have a monolid, and therefore no crease), but for the most part there's no better place to learn things. I'll link a few videos as I go.

I'll start off with eye makeup. Doing eye makeup properly can change so much about your appearance, it's unbelievable. A cat eye will open up your eye shape and make you look more awake. If you don't wing out your eyeliner your eyes could look smaller and droopier, which isn't good. Here are some videos showing you how to do winged eyeliner on monolids. You could also use the same technique for non-monolids, but you need to draw the line a lot thicker for it to show on your lid. Mascara is easy, you just need a quality mascara and an eyelash curler (my E.L.F curler works almost as good as my Shu Uemura, and Maybelline's Falsies mascara is decent for very little $). Very little technique involved, but here's a video with the basics.

Eyeshadow is a bit trickier and requires quite a bit of practice to get right. You'll want to buy a palette of colours to try out, and some basic brushes (don't use those sponge things for eye makeup, so get some cheapy ones from Forever 21, and then move onto Ecotools if you feel the need for better). You don't need to go super expensive to get good quality stuff, but just know that your typical drugstore brand won't be the same quality as something like MAC or Urban Decay. My fave cheap palettes are by Wet N' Wild (seriously pigmented shit, for $5), and should be available in any drugstore or Walmart. You have to be careful what colours you use as well, because you have warmer toned skin, and as most cheaper eyeshadows look better on cooler-toned skin, using the wrong colours will look awful. Stay away from colours like sky blue (eye shadow, eyeliner is fine), pale pink, and most pastels. In my experience the best colours for yellow-toned skin are rich colours, like royal blue, violet, forest green, etc. Neutrals like browns and shades of white and blacks and greys look good on everyone, and are a safe bet, but colours will make your eyes pop more.

I'm shit at explaining how to apply eyeshadow, since I've been doing it for so long, but practice makes perfect, and watching tutorials online are a great way to learn. Just copy whatever you see on screen (adjust your technique accordingly if the guru has a different eye shape than you). Here are some eye looks that will look great with your skin tone, and should show you the basics (every word is a link to a different video).

Now, for the rest of the face it's pretty easy. You just need good tools (Ecotools makes fab face brushes for relatively cheap) and decent quality products (once again, not expensive. Revlon makes my fave foundation of all time, Wet N Wild has super pigmented blush, Sally Hansen has dece bronzer, etc.). Basics steps are: face primer, concealer, foundation, bronzer/highlighter for contouring, blush, and then dust all over translucent powder to set it. Lip colour's always a good idea as well, something berry-coloured and vibrant will look good on you. For bronzer, go for something three shades darker than your skintone, for blush try corals or soft pinks, foundation go for yellow-toned colours (pink-toned will look terribad, it's totally worth spending more to get the right undertone for your skin). To do your brows, either go for an eyebrow pencil or eyeshadow which is three shades lighter than your hair colour.

If you don't have time to do a full face (which you shouldn't anyways, too much for every day wear), at least wear some lip gloss, sunscreen and curl your eyelashes. It takes like fifteen seconds and it's better than going out bare-faced. Remember not too put emphasis on too many parts at once, otherwise you'll look like a painted doll (eg. no dramatic eyes with dramatic lips with super contouring with heavy eyebrows, only one or two at a time.) Experiment to find out what works best for you.

Makeup portion is over, now let's move on to your hair. It needs style, girlfriend. Braid it, curl it, put it up, I don't care, just do something to it! It's kind of flat and boring right now, which is a crime, because you could do so much with it. Having great hair could make you feel great, and thus let you have a great day.

Anyways, you're a pretty girl, but doing just a little bit extra will push you into supermodel territory. If you have questions or anything, lemme know, I'm here to help. :)

If you wish you were more attractive to others, there is evidence that men find Asian women to be the most desirable. That's from National Public Radio, too! And even if you're not Asian, you look it enough that it should apply to me and other ignorants.

You just need to start caring, lady! Clean up your diet and you'll start losing weight, which will improve your face. If you are willing to start working out, use something like P90X or Insanity.

I prefer to create my own workouts, but I've tried these and they work. Look at the Amazon reviews and before and after videos on YouTube. Everything is planned out for you. All you have to do is be willing to eat a little better and press play.

You need some confidence, and for you I think an important catalyst to that will be improving your self image. You look like you're in your early 20s, so please don't waste this part of your life feeling sorry for yourself and wishing you looked better.

You're not grotesque. Eat better and work out and you'll look like a new person. Looking better physically will extend to feeling healthier physically. You'll have more energy and you'll be happier with your life.

Treat yourself better, because it all has to start with you. Best of luck!

I see a few things that I think will help you look your best.

  1. Get your teeth whiten professionally. Your teeth are very yellow. It will mean you need to have it done every couple of years, but they will look nice since yours are so wonderfully straight. The cost is around $250 in the U.S. Don't bother with OTC stuff, they can't do the same job that a dentist's office can do.

  2. Because you have acne on your forehead, I recommend you wash your hair daily with a shampoo that doesn't contain acne causing ingredients. I recommend Acure Organics shampoo. Or here is an article which will explain what the problem might be if you want to look for a different shampoo.

  3. I can post my recommendation of what to do to clear up your skin if you want, but I really think the forehead acne is caused by hair that isn't washed daily or a shampoo that is causing problems.

  4. I would recommend you use mousse to make sure your hair isn't falling onto your forehead. The style looks like it was cut to sweep back, but when it falls forward, the cut looks like your hair is choppy. Maybe an inexpensive mousse like this would help, but you need to make sure it doesn't have any ingredients that might cause your forehead acne.

  5. Are you able to wear contacts or get Lasik? I think you might look better without glasses. Could you post a photo of you without glasses?

You have a nice friendly face. You also have a very good nose in how perfectly straight it appears to be. You have no features that are ugly, so I think you would look good if you could just clean up a couple of things.

You're cool but you need to gain some weight and confidence.

So here's the plan:

  1. Head over to /r/gainit, look at some progress pics from skinny dudes gaining weight for inspiration. Create a meal plan, pick a fitness program you like and head over to the gym. Stick with it. It's not about motivation, but about discipline.

  2. Read this book. Despite the terribly cheesy title it's actually a great book about 'becoming the best version of yourself possible'.

I'm in my 30s now and I wish someone would have told me these two things when I was younger.

Ah also get a haircut. 6/10 for now but could easily become an 8/10.
u/goingyourowngalt · 8 pointsr/amiugly

Yeah, learn how to smile. I’m serious—practice in the mirror every day and lean in on having photos taken of yourself (not selfies—stop taking selfies). You can’t get better if you are not seeing yourself like others do.

Shave your head. And by shave I mean tell your barber to do a “1” all over. It WILL BE WEIRD at first, but you have an advantage in that it looks like you are in pretty good shape. Keep that shit up.

Straighten your back and stick your titties out when you walk, I can feel your confidence deficit through the photos. Walk confidently and your attitude and demeanor will change. Ladies will notice (I’m serious, it works!)

When it comes time, talk to women like they are people with dreams, hopes, insecurities, and other feelings. Don’t lead with the “virgin til 20” business. Act like someone a woman would like to have coffee with.

Read “Mate” by Tucker Max (yes, that Tucker Max). It’s also coauthored by an evolutionary psychologist. There are incredible insights in the book. It helped me be more attractive to women and also helped me understand how to treat them better. Good luck!!!

I think you have an interesting look.

Your hair will make you stand out, but don't let it get too much longer. Be sure to always keep it clean since that is probably the first thing people will see when they look at you.

You have some really good cheek bones.

You may want to start to groom your eyebrows. Here is a good article on the subject. But whatever you do, do not wax/pluck underneath them unless you are going for a more effeminate look.

Are your teeth straight and white? If not, then most people appearance would improve after braces and teeth whitening at the dentist's office.

Here are the products to buy to help get rid of your acne. It will cost around $20.00 - $30.00 depending on if you need the shampoo. If you want information on how to use them, PM me. All the items can be purchased online through Target except the Acne Free Terminator which you can get through Amazon.

  1. Formula 10-0-6/So Totally Clean Cleanser
  2. L-lysine supplements
  3. Acne Free Terminator 10 Acne Spot Treatment 4. And if you have hairline or forehead zit, purchase Acure Organics shampoo.

Fuck the surgery thing, that's crazy talk. I would just recommend losing the earrings (if that's what they are). I had a very similar problem as you when I was in high school. I had longer, thick hair, but I needed to find something that didn't look over the top, but still looked decent.

http://imgur.com/a/i0k7t

The top picture was me in high school (i know the picture is funny, but I didn't have a social media account back then) and the bottom is what I currently do with my hair at 22.

I found a product called American Crew Forming Cream
http://www.amazon.com/American-Crew-Forming-Cream-Ounce/dp/B000KEIPC6

I like it because it doesn't make your hair hard and you can restyle it throughout the day with no issue at all. It also doesn't have a wet or shiny look to it, so it doesn't look like you have anything in your hair (which I always thought to be douchy). I just take a shower, let it dry for like 10 mins and then i rub a very small amount between my index, middle finger, and thumb and part my hair off to the side. Very simple, low maintenance and it keeps the hair out of your face while looking pretty good. Ditch the bowl cut for christ sakes! Stop trying to be unique!!! :P

You are pretty attractive, If I were you, I would get rid of the earrings, get a trim and tell the barber you want it relatively short, but want to be able to part your hair off to the side, which will leave you with bangs to do with as you please. Also, start dressing more preppy, like khakis/boat shoes, northface/columbia, just dress very conservatively and it will definitely bump your numbers up on the attractiveness scale.

You look great. But get a piece of paper, man. A well stocked house is important (don't play on bluetooth speakers lmao, mildly nsfw).

Here's my advice:

Get a haircut that makes more sense for your head shape. You have a slightly big forehead. Not an enormous forehead, though! It's about normal sized, only slightly larger than average. But the hair style is really emphasizing that otherwise minor fact.

As for acne, here's the process I use and it pretty much got rid of all of my acne. I used to have acne exactly like you.

  1. In the shower, use these three products: product 1, product 2, product 3. They need to be rinsed off, so it's easiest to do in the shower.
  2. After your shower, apply a 10% benzoyl peroxide acne treatment, in a pea-sized amount. Get the good stuff-- it is very different from the cheap stuff. Trust me, i've tried both. And if you use a pea-sized amount once or twice daily, it'll last a few months. Don't rinse this stuff off. If you get skin irritation, keep doing it for a few days. If it doesn't go away, stop use.
  3. Throughout the day, keep your skin clean! This is super important. Use witch hazel for this. It's cheap and it'll make your skin feel amazing.

I'm sure some of these steps aren't nessecary, but this was the routine that I developed. Since it works crazy good, it's a "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of thing. If you don't want to invest in ALL of the aforementioned products, then you could probably get away with just 10% benzoyl peroxide scrub + 10% benzoyl peroxide treatment + witch hazel.

Anyways, you're like a 5.5 / 10 right now. 5 is average. So that puts you slightly above average. Deal with acne and get a better hair style and you're easily a 6.5 / 10, which means attractive.

Hey dude! Cheer up! Anything can be learned

  • Fashion: Check out /r/malefashionadvice for tips. Wear fitting (read: tight-ish) button ups, get some good ideas on outfits. While at your age graphic tees are fine, there's no reason not to reach a bit.

  • Fitness: Work out if you're not already. This is one thing I regret, starting working out late. Check out Stronglifts 5x5 for a good beginner course. It's free, only requires you to work out three days a week for about 30 minutes, and it's really easy to measure your success.

  • Flirting: Learn how to speak to women. Pick up a copy of "The Game" by Neil Strauss for a great crash course. Take with a grain of salt; some people get way too into "pick-up" and turn out a douchebaggy turd.

    Gluck!

Hey bro. (3.5/10)
Real Talk: Your clothes are way too big. You need to size down your clothes a bit, get trendier glasses for your headshape.
Do not listen to the person who likes your fashion - It's not working for you.
Next. Focus on your posture.
Next. You need to start lifting. You need to put on weight and add muscle. You have good bone structure and a little bit of size will make your clothes fit better and it will help get your head in proportion to your body. Your neck seems skinny in proportion to your head, that's because you lack muscle.

Good luck out there.

Depression sucks. I've had MDD with anxiety for decades. It can really keep you from going anywhere in life. I just take antidepressants everyday now. I probably will for the rest of my life. It's just a thing, like a diabetic who has to take insulin everyday. It's not a big deal at all. But talk therapy helps even more. Find a good (experienced - older is better) psychologist who does CBT, and have them teach you how to do it. It is amazing how well it works - if you do it. You just can't be passive about it.

Don't worry - there is nothing at all wrong with your looks. You are very pretty. You're just seeing life through the filter of depression, which turns everything dark. You could go through your school's guidance counselor, I'm sure, if you don't know where to turn. But it's easiest just to see your general practitioner (the doc you see when you have the flu), and get them to recommend you to someone.

If you want a head start, buy the book Feeling Good, the New Mood Therapy. It's what a therapist will have you read first thing. It's the instruction manual of cognitive behavioral therapy.

u/reversethiscurse · 0 pointsr/amiugly

If you insist on keeping the hair (bad idea IMO, I think you would look great with short hair) then at least use a hair serum on it. This is a really good one, a little expensive, but it's great. This one is not quite as good, but it's a little cheaper. Another thing you could do to help is use a shampoo for body, or a mousse for body. These products will help your hair look healthier and fuller.

u/Throwyourtoothbrush · 1 pointr/amiugly

Not ugly. So you want curves? and /r/xxfitness

Stop plucking your middle brows They're too far apart. Let them fill back in a bit. (On second thought it might be the angles of the photos... They just seem a few mm too far apart. Just a little)

Go to /r/skincareaddiction or /r/asianbeauty

Most of us feel better and look better with some makeup. If you're really thinking you have wrinkles and bags then you should probably find a therapist and invest some time and effort into loving yourself. You deserve to love your body

u/curlyginger55 · 2 pointsr/amiugly

You’re pretty cute. Don’t listen to anyone who doesn’t have curly hair. Your hair rocks, and what would help is if you shortened the sides and put a soft gel in the top to make the curls stand out without getting frizzy. I use Cantu Define & Shine gel - it’s like $5 or so, which is pretty cheap and you don’t need much at all so it’s worth a try.
As for skin care, you’re right, it’s hard. Your skin isn’t that bad though. You don’t seem to have scarring. Maybe try using an acne face wash with benzoyl peroxide (helps with whiteheads) and a hydrating tonerhydrating toner or a light, non-comedogenic lotion (won’t clog pores) . Only need to do it once a day, twice if your skin is oily. I think the mistake people make is doing TOO much. My skin looked similar to yours and that’s what helped me.

u/TylerSten · 2 pointsr/amiugly

Not ugly, but you're like me my dude. Big forehead and a big ol snozz.

Different haircut will help and consider glasses that sit a little far down on your nose. It helps even out a big nose, it's what I do.

Very good looking. Like quarterback good-looking. You don't need to change a thing except your brain. Put on a few lbs of muscle, you would be a god. It's the confidence, dude. That's all. http://www.amazon.com/How-Succeed-Women-Louis/dp/0130950912

I'd suggest trying a few different products instead of the gel you're currently using. Play around until you find something you like. Most stores have great return policies, too. Here's some product suggestions: 1, 2, 3, 4

Nice, I'm liking that look on you. Some advice from a fellow head shaver

Look into getting a Wahl five star foil shaver. Use the close or comfort close head

And an Andis t-liner and you will never have to worry about razor bumps.

I'm another dude, in a similar position like you and I wish I was at where you are now.

You're a young guy, just starting out life. Don't be down on yourself. Don't end up like me -- a lonely man in middle age, facing more years behind than ahead.

If you really are feeling low about yourself, could I suggest talking to a therapist? If that's not an option, here's a book that's helped me out over the years: http://www.amazon.com/Feeling-Good-The-Mood-Therapy/dp/0380810336

It's not an affiliate link or anything. Some people hand out religious books, I hand out this one. :) I'll even buy it for you over kindle if you want. I'm that serious.

u/Imhotep_23 · 3 pointsr/amiugly

Whenever I see that duckface in photos [this is what I think of] (https://www.amazon.com/Down-Farm-Little-Feat/dp/B000002KK9). Aside from that you're quite cute :)

u/OppositeDot · 1 pointr/amiugly

Well you could take a picture and not look at it.

How short are you? You could do what Tom Cruise supposedly does..... wear Elevator Shoes or Elevator Shoe Insole Lifts ,which can make you 3 inches taller.

The fuckoff signal might be because she knows you aren't confident in yourself. True confidence (not fake bravado) in a guy is usually an aphrodisiac to women. That is what is usually happening when you see ugly men with drop dead gorgeous women. (Money helps too.)

That signal could be many things other than you are ugly as hell. You could be giving off a creepy vibe without knowing it. Honestly, unless a guy looks like Quasimodo, most can find someone to love them.

Speaking of money, do you have a good job? Security is important to women too. That is why ugly doctors/lawyers have no problem getting hot women.

u/WRXminion · 3 pointsr/amiugly

I'm a dude, I have similar hair to yours. Ever since highschool I would grow it out to 15-16 inches which is about 11 inches braided. I then donate it to locks of love. I've done this 4 or 5 times now. I also have issues with dandruff every once in a while. I find it is mostly due to low humidity, not washing enough, and wearing hats. Along with what the others recommended I would start using biosilk. It's a leave in conditioner for after you wash. Makes your hair shiny and smooth without making it oily. I'm a photographer and will have models throw this in their hair, depending on hair type and if the model needs it, right before a shoot. I can't recommend it enough.... yea i total sound like a shill....

Ninja edit: it only takes a drop or so. A bottle will last me over a month. I don't use it daily, though you can.
