7. Micca MB42 Bookshelf Speakers, Passive, Not for Turntable, Needs Amplifier or Receiver, 4-Inch Carbon Fiber Woofer and Silk Dome Tweeter (Black, Pair)

    Features:
  • The MB42 is a demonstration of our designers’ love for the classic compact bookshelf speaker. Handsomely styled with simple contours and modern design cues, the MB42 is easy to place and blends into any room or decor. Its enhanced audio capability makes it a great fit with a wide range of usage scenarios, including living room stereo, home theater surround sound, office background music, or computer desktop sound.
  • Our design starts with carefully picked drivers that mesh perfectly in the critical crossover overlap region. It incorporates a balanced woven carbon fiber woofer for enhanced transient and impactful bass, and a high performance silk dome tweeter for smooth treble and accurate imaging. The drivers are housed in a ported enclosure that delivers extended bass response with low distortion. A simple yet effective 6db/Octave crossover helps the drivers blend together for a smooth tonal balance.
  • The fabric front grills are easy to take off and put on. Leave them on for a classic look or take them off to show off the incredibly handsome drivers. Full size 5-way binding posts provide the full complement of speaker wire connectivity options. Hex screws are used throughout for assembly.
  • Home Trial - Listen for yourself, try them in your home with your music. Place the MB42 along a wall or near a corner of the room for best results. They can be used on desks, book/wall shelves, or on speaker stands.

It's going to depend on a few factors - megapixel count especially is a pretty useless metric without knowing the physical sensor size.

That $40 20MP camera probably has a sensor the size of a pencil eraser - yes, it has a ton of pixels, but they're so small and close together and generate so much interference between them that the image at full-size will be a noisy mess. Contrast that with something like the 12-year-old, 12.8MP Canon 5D ($3000 at the time) with half the pixel count, but a full-size 35.8 x 23.9 mm sensor - noise levels will be vastly superior, as well as giving a lot of additional advantages owning to the larger sensor such as greater depth-of-field and vastly improved low-light performance.

Speed is also a significant factor - by the time that $40 camera has turned on and taken one shot, that 5D has taken fifteen - for the average user that may not be important, but there are plenty of reasons people don't shoot wildlife with an iPhone.

Oh definitely, I'm surprised how good sound some CRTs have, the best definitely sound better than my $150 Panasonic Sounbar. But even $60 speakers like this with a $30-60 mini amp would sound better let alone mid-range or high-end sound systems.

That's a damn decent deal. If you have a board or something that can take the m.2 standard.

I recently had to emergency rebuild my current machine, and in the process decided to drop in a new SSD. Picked up a couple of 480 Gb drives off amazon for $60.00 each, which I thought was pretty decent:

Read/write speeds are on the money, too, according to Gnome Disks (gnome-disk-utility) benchmarking. I'll be later upgrading my processor slightly (best AMD processor I could get for this mobo), upping my memory from 8 to 16 Gb (DDR3 @ 1600 to same @ 1833), and trading my 750ti out for a 970 gtx.

Not anything super special, certainly not top-of-the-line or even the newest, but way better than what I have now, and honestly, I don't need anything more. Don't get me wrong, if someone offered me something like this:

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/data-center/dgx-2/

I wouldn't turn it down (and if it were a full rack of those - oh man)...

Yup, I had an early HD RPTV that would accept 1080i signals over Component video. Pre-HDMI as you mentioned.

OG Xbox could output 1080i over component as well, as long as you had the HDTV AV Pack.

Also, wow they want a lot for that thing. Glad I already have one!

> I covered the rest of the window up with painted plywood.

If you aren't handy with plywood and paint (or just in a rush) you can use foam poster board and packing tape for about $5 in cost and solve the problem in 10 minutes. :-) You can get these supplies in your local Target or Walmart.

It may not be super pretty, but it will allow you to cool your apartment. Once you are cool again and have time, hang an inexpensive drape over it to make it look nice.

I can help you with the m.2 at least, my friend found a great deal last night, Amazon.

Check out the price history.
