I'm sure you know more than I do, but Fitbit still sells the Alta Hr with warranty on Amazon. I took their discontinued line to mean "we wish you'd buy the new model, but we'll still support you either way".

But I guess the new one has more bells and whistles.

I bought some screen protector on Amazon and it has worked well so far. I'm pretty clumsy so my HR gets some hits every once in a while, and I still haven't had to change the first protector I put on. If you follow the instructions, they're pretty straight forward to apply.

I just bought this weight gurus one a couple weeks ago and love it. Syncs great with fitbit! It's the Wi-Fi one so you don't have to have your phone nearby when you weigh yourself. https://www.amazon.com/Connected-Digital-Precision-Accurate-Measurements/dp/B01IFYLAR4

I went with a cheap knockoff sport band from Amazon for 1/3 of the price of the official one and I love it. Much more comfortable than the one the Ionic comes with.

This one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0775Y786J

Agreed, buying a Milanese replacement band will sort this and you won't have to deal with giving up a sentimental object.

You could explain the value to Fitbit and offer to send the band but keep the pebble (the computer/screen bit) until they send out a replacement band, but that sounds like more hassle than it's worth.

I replaced mine using this one - it was pretty easy. The instructions were easy to follow.

Well think of it this way, you always see stuff on this sub of people complaining about bugs, and missing features that they want on the CURRENT products, and as you can see they are losing money so it's pretty hard to rationalize whole new product lines like your describing which would require hiring more designers, managers, and engineers, and manufacturing devices... Those are expensive... Not to mention a lot of the things you mentioned have a relatively small market compared to smart watches and fitness trackers so they probably don't stand to profit off of it anyway

That said there ARE some companies that have integrated with Fitbits stuff
Water bottles

Other scales

And you can make apps for their watches

Would be great to see more products built to sync with it

Maybe you could try COUNTU Goal. I thought it's the best swimming wearable device for me.

COUNTU Goal is a finger ring device and fairly easy to use. COUNTU Goal has a very useful function, lap/time vibrate alarm function.

COUNTU Goal can record the following swimming matrix: Total time, Total laps, Average time for each lap, Fastest lap time, slowest lap time, Individual lap time for every lap…

Maybe it suit for your swimming requirement.

>is there a clunky charging mount that I've read about.

You can but a cradle charger for like $8 on Amazon that is worlds better than the "pop the tracker out of the frame" nonsense.

It looks like your other questions have already been answered.

Yes! I've had to buy two new clips, also. But they've just ended up doing the same thing, and the price is a bit much, in my opinion. I found some cheap knockoffs on Amazon.com that do the trick, but the material isn't as "sticky", which makes me feel it's less secure. However, it also tends to stay together better, since there isn't so much friction on the fabric.

My teal flex bands discolored like that too over time... at first, rubbing alcohol helped, but after a while I just had to buy new bands. I got these textured ones on amazon and love them.

u/gmm010 · 3 pointsr/fitbit

I got this one, http://www.amazon.com/Vastar-Charging-Fitbit-Charge-Activity/dp/B0142A96G2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00.

So far so good. It is like a replica of the original charger, the short cable and all. Only thing to note is that the plug into HR is a little snug. Otherwise I'm happy.

u/ykkzqbhf · 13 pointsr/fitbit

I replaced mine with an Alta HR and one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MEDIPPP/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

it's been great so far. A little difficult to get out, but that's it. It's also nice to have the ability to take it off and put it on the bands to get the new sleep stage data at night.

Next to my One for comparison: https://i.imgur.com/8Bk9AV7.jpg

If the Inspire is anything like the Fitbit One, you can buy a keychain to hold it as well. I use this with the Fitbit one:

u/cdusdal · 1 pointr/fitbit

I wanted something less sporty that I could wear in any environment.

I ended up buying this one https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B0769NQ173/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

and it's been good to me so far. Looks great and feels sturdy.

u/greenlep · 1 pointr/fitbit

I know Best Buy does. Or you can always buy it online. I actually bought the green wristband from a third party: http://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00J59OEEK

u/negotiate · 5 pointsr/fitbit

I’ve actually been really happy with this one I ordered off amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071KFV358/ref=sxts_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1511553459&sr=1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65

You unscrew the 4 screws on the underside to remove the tracker from the band, and then transfer the tracker to the new band. I have had zero issues with this replacement band!

Edit: do not order the small though! It is about an inch smaller than the “small” size actual Fitbit band.

Thanks for reply. I have a droid turbo 1 no issues with battery life on the phone. Worst case I'll put the dongle on my work computer.
