edit:

> According to my TV's manual it supports 4:4:4 60hz when UHD DEEP COLOR is on

Just to be clear, you can't do 4k60 4:4:4 AND 10/12bit color. Its pushes HDMI out of spec and 99% of cables can't even meet that, let alone exceed. (See my paste below.) You can have the option ticked on your TV for that input, but you'll never actually get that. Like on my TV, I have all inputs toggled on to accept HDR signal because why the fuck not. If I'm sending HDR metadata then use HDR. But just because its toggled on doesn't mean it is HDR.

(The nvidia control panel shouldn't even allow you to pick an "invalid" combination like 4k60 4:4:4 10b.)

(edit2: Backstory: I spent two weeks ordering/returning a billion lengths/brands/prices of HDMI cables on a near-daily basis while ripping my hair out trying to get full signal.)

copy/pasting a post I made here a while back:

-----

tldr;

HDMI cable that meets specs.

Repeater that I can personally vouch for that works for a 20ft x2 run.

Just a note, as the certified cables are actually tested and have to meet specs, they vary in thickness. The 3ft one is pretty thin and pliable. The 20ft one is a bit thinner than a standard PC power cable because it needs more shielding and twisting and such.

----

The issue is that 4k60 (either 4:2:0 12bit or 4:4:4 8bit, don't recall, but for HTPC purposes with a nice TV you'll probably use both) uses 17.8 Gbps and HDMI spec is for 18 Gbps.

But the vast, vast majority of people are connecting their Bluray players and PS4s, so they need 4:2:0 10bit at most, which is something like 12 Gbps at 60 fps. And movies are pretty much 24 fps, and consoles can't really do 4k60, so we're talking like 10 Gbps or less. So a piece of shit cable that doesn't fully meet 18 Gbps spec, but say only half of that, is "good enough" for most people.

I'm actually doing a 40 foot run and 4k60 4:4:4 and 4:2:0 12bit both work flawlessly. Using two of the 20 ft cables and the aforementioned repeater. (monoprice sells the same repeater but this is one was cheaper at the time and is the one I can vouch for.)

(As an aside, the fucking three foot amazon basics "2.0" cable that connected my AVR to the TV's input couldn't handle the bandwidth.)

WARNING THIS PRODUCT IS GARBAGE, ONLY FOR ILLUSTRATIVE PURPOSES: The most expensive hdmi cable monoprice sells advertises 18 Gbps up to 50ft. Didn't work even at 40 ft. Even the 30 ft crapped out when I actually pushed a moving image of 60 fps. (Sitting at desktop worked fine, playing a game, not so much.) This is without a repeater. So it advertises full 18 Gbps at 50ft and even 30ft failed with nothing else to complicate the equation.

(It is worth noting that the repeater does improve signal strength or whatever. I forgot which combinations of cables and the settings at the time, but at one point I was running a single cable, then plugged in the repeater and had a 20 ft cable just coiled up sitting on top of the AVR [so I literally just added the repeater and 20ft to the run] and was able to increase my graphics settings. So if you've having issues, even adding a good 3ft cable and the booster thing could possibly fix an issue.)

----

Now my overall setup uses six of those certified cables (20+20, 20+10, 6, and a 3) and everything works flawlessly.

If you wait a couple of weeks for the Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales, if you have the space for it (because it's a BIG card), I'd highly recommend this. It's what I have and it's one of the more pricey GTX 1070 GPUs, but it is by far the best purchase I've made so far for my current rig. It's very quiet, heavy built (like military grade components), solid and performs much better than what I expected since Zotac was an off-brand that I've never heard of before.

I honestly wouldn't go with Gigabyte or EVGA unless you're on a really tight budget because both seem to be pretty cheaply made from my own experience, although, they are great choices for certain other components (just not GPUs). My last GPU was an MSI GTX 970 OC Edition and it was pretty amazing but the fans were a bit loud when running some higher end games.

nVidia Driver Error 43 | Please help, tried everything possible but replacing the card

Hello Folks,

Last night got a strange behavior from the PC, once I launched a game (Dota 2) the pc would start freezing the screen, weird things would happen and the screens would go dark, restarting the PC would take some time but once done i could do things normally, until again i would run something Graphics intensive... Long story short I then fresh installed Win 10 thinking it was perhaps the last Win 10 patch update, I even tried older version of Win 10 - 1809 but the problem is I would say now even worse

The driver cant even be installed or it says it was installed but its not running at startup, i added a few screen shots for reference

I tried all advice on google: removing battery, removing card, uninstall / install drivers, I did everything i could find online before coming here :)

Here is the setup and screenshots, let me know if i have to buy a new card (open to suggestions)

Hardware:

- Motherboard: Gigabyte Intell Z77 LGA 1155 link
- GPU: MSI nVidia GeForce GTX 670 2 GB link

Software:

- Win 10 Pro latest version
- nVidia driver latest also tried older versions

Screenshots:

2nd Screen output is not working
Drivers are installed
Device Manager Error 43
Driver Version

I got two dell monitors connected + 4K TV if i have to replace the card i would need something with many outputs

Thank you all

Thank you! I found cable management to be the harder part of building but after a couple tries I think I got everything where I want it! Also the name of the cooler is DeepCool Gmaxx GT, it looks better from the side when you get to see the fan. Amazon Link here for anyone curious!

Hi guys,
I am in the market for a new GPU, currently am rocking dual GTX 960's on a 1440p monitor so am finding it quite hard to play a variety of games at the settings I wish. My lust for card right now is the Xtreme Waterforce edition Gigabyte is launching. But, I am in the UK and saw the Gigabyte G1 Gaming edition on Amazon for £560 and snapped that up straight away but haven't heard the slighest regarding shipping date. My question is, in your guys opinion, do I stick with the G1 that I bought? Or upgrade to the Waterforce? Considering that I want as much power as I can get (have saved so budget is flexible) and also I dont want audible noise above speakers (my dual 960's whine like no before). I made the mistake of getting two 960's over a 970 before and dont want to make a mistake with a GPU again so any info would be great. Thanks!
INFO: The Waterforce is £750 on pre-order: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/gigabyte-geforce-gtx-1080-xtreme-waterforce-8192mb-gddr5x-pci-express-graphics-card-gv-n1080xtreme-gx-185-gi.html
The G1 was £560 on some sort of order too: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01GCAW1IA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just did :) :) :) BUT...I noticed it charged me for importing fees for like extra $85 for the Super version...that made the whole deal a bit too pricey for me so I decided to go for the slightly weaker version of the 2060 which is the regular one but hey it is still quite fast and costs me much much less now...I saved like $140 overall...its the same manufacturer tho (EVGA) and has also 3 years warranty and all the good stuff (15 cards of this left now, and it is Amazon's choice as well) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q1ZJ3ZB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Guys Quick Question:

Will the Geforce RTX 2080 FTW3 Ultra Gaming 8GB be better than the upcoming RTX 2080 Super? and why?

Sure, the Ultrawide and the 1440p I use. Both run by a single 1080ti. No issues playing any games, though I'm only playing on the Ultrawide at the moment as my 1440p is now my secondary monitor(it was my main one for quite a few years)

If you don't want to spend the extra cash for the Ultrawide, that 1440p monitor is awesome and I would suggest it to anyone. Games will run better at 2560x1440 vs. the 3440x1440 as well. But it's hard to go back from ultrawide once you've commited to it. At 1440p the 1080ti is a monster of a card and you will not have ANY issues playing just about everything maxed out.

If you have stock 980 Ti's or can get ahold of stock coolers you can do what I did

http://i.imgur.com/yuyyRia.jpg

Those EVGA kits work with reference cards, but they do require the reference bracket and blower fan to keep the card cool, you don't "need" them but it will look kinda ghetto without it.

The kit is $60 on Amazon, will work with any stock blower on any reference 980 Ti or Titan X.

As of Sept 27 @ 8PM (pst) Looks like two other 2080 Tis have popped up with 20% off discount on top of the amazon warehouse discount:

one is for the Asus ROG Strix OC (Overclocked) Edition RTX 2080Ti for $1,180.24 minus 20% (~236.05) for ~$944.12 total. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B07HY6QWXN

Another is for the Aorus Xtreme Waterforce (AIO) RTX 2080Ti for $1,255.49 minus 20% (~$251.10) for ~$1004.39 total. https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B07LDLQFDY

much like the others I've pointed out in previous replies, i'm sure these will disappear fast too.

u/LEDsForEyes · 1 pointr/nvidia

They are pretty flexible, actually. You can move them around quite a bit. I had them set up like you but I got tired of them resting against the door and wanted them a little more out of the way.

If you wanted to, you could at least fit a powerlink on your card and get those cables out of the way a bit more. Not bad for $10. I can't fit one, so I went with custom GPU cables that look a little nicer.

> there's no real space for the CPU power connector

I KNOW, RIGHT?

I had very similar issues getting the CPU connector in there. When I purchased custom braided cables, I included the CPU cable because they're a lot more flexible than the stock power supply cables. So that helped maneuver it in there.

u/Archlicht · 2 pointsr/nvidia

US Amazon has them available for pre-order still. Might as well put one in there if that's the card you're interested in. They don't charge until they ship and it's easy to cancel if you find one before then.

u/Kylo-Binks · 3 pointsr/nvidia

Why not get a cheaper 2070 SUPER? Do you need the Strix/Aorus branding? 2070S Windforce costs 520$ currently on Amazon.com. IMO at that price it disqualifies both the Strix 2070S and Aorus 2060S.

u/UCLAKoolman · 2 pointsr/nvidia

Yeah, good call. You may want to wait just a little for the aftermarket 1080 cards to drop with improved coolers and factory OC.

Last June I had an itchy trigger finger and bought a reference 980ti at launch. Fortunately, EVGA makes a hybrid cooler for the reference card, which I installed a couple months later. Under load, the cooler keeps the card at 40 degrees with a 1.4 GHz overclock. Keep an eye out, because EVGA may release one for the 1080 or you can buy the card with the hybrid cooler already installed. Just need some space to mount the radiator.

u/Me-as-I · 5 pointsr/nvidia

Would this work?

You may want to get the EVGA 1080ti FTW3, because it is only two slot, and has smaller fans, so not too wide. And it has enough fans so it doesn't get too hot, unlike the smaller 2 fan designs.

u/zodiacsoldier · 3 pointsr/nvidia

Hey have you considered getting the EVGA PowerLink it's only $10 on Amazon. Will make the cable management a little cleaner

u/john_co · 35 pointsr/nvidia

It's just a powerlink adapter which routes the PCIE power ports to the side instead of the front. Looks slightly cleaner to me. I got it on sale for $5 a while ago. Here it is on Amazon

u/Pyromonkey83 · 2 pointsr/nvidia

Depending on how your case and GPU work, you can sometimes use one of these EVGA Powerlink adapters which route your GPU cables to the side instead of straight down in front. If you have grommets there it makes them almost disappear entirely.
