Thank you very much for your answer, very detailed and informative! I currently have my Yeti set to Stereo mode so according to the manual it came with it should be recording from the front and both sides without capturing much sounds coming from behind (but what do I know.. ) I also made sure to be speaking "at" the microphone and not into the top so I don't think this is a source for my problem.
I am in fact recording in my bedroom and have tried to listen for the littlest of sounds but I can't really hear anything particular. I do have the fan from the laptop I use to record the sounds running while I record so that may be it. I will try to move the laptop further away and lower the gain on my Yeti and see if it removes some of the white noise.
I'm also considering investing in some soundproofing foam for my room but I'd like your opinion on it? Is it actually useful? Would it make a difference?
