Thanks! Answers...

Inspirations: one, two, three, and others. I didn't really love the design of the Risa or the others, so I modified it. Plus it's really fun to build your own instruments.

Friction Tuners: They work OK. Fine tuning is finicky but once the strings stretch out, they do stay in tune. I tried to work in geared tuners (like this one) but couldn't without the pegs being in the strum plane or pressing against my abdomen. The planetary tuners would be a good option, although I think they are quite a bit bigger than friction tuners and a lot more expensive.

Bottom Pegs: They don't get in the way at all and never get knocked out of tune.

String Turn: I used a bit of 1/4" diameter steel rod I had in the shop. I had to beef this up quite a bit from the prototype because I underestimated the pounds of pressure applied by the four strings (it's about 33 lbs for a concert scale uke). Imagine a 33 pound weight hanging off this rod and you'll have a mental model of how strong it will have to be. I've found that the strings don't slide around the rod as much as I'd like, exacerbating the imprecision of the friction tuners. For v2 I'll probably add a lubricated, four-segment hollow tube over the rod to allow the strings to more easily make the turn.

Piezo:: I didn't have to shorten the piezo rod, I got this one on Amazon.

0th Fret:: It is the same height as the other frets. I did end up raising the bridge height a bit because there was some buzzing. I think it was because my bridge slots were too wide, though, not because the action was too low.

Please message me if you make your own, I'd love to see it.
