If you have a regular SNES (not the mini) I'd try to get an S-Video cable for the best raw quality and then use a converter. Converting composite video (RCA) into VGA won't look as good on a VGA monitor as S-Video or SCART.

Also you'll need separate speakers to run the composite sound into. You'll still use the Red and White RCA plugs, just not the yellow one.
