I bought these which work super well! Easy to take on and off without using a tool but also pretty darn secure.
Buy military-style locking pinbacks from Amazon or your eTailer of choice much gentler on the pin post and no need for tool to remove.

Edit II: I bought that exact product and have four pins on my manly tactical sling bag.
Its more so that they dont come off easily, rather than being tight. To release them, you have to push the base down and lift the top of the back up. They still can break but it is a much more secure way to have pins on your hat.
