My Pom loves his Kong toys - a little frog and a little duck - and most especially his floppy fox.
To keep him occupied when he's being annoying, I use the ever-popular Kong stuffed with peanut butter.
I also recommend a Kong hide-a-biscuit toy. I fill mine with Remy's kibble and make him work for his food, haha.
(I swear I didn't start out writing yet another endorsement for Kong. I hadn't even realized his little plushies were Kong until I looked for the links!)
EDIT: Also, I just realized this is one of those things you might not think you need but will turn out to be really handy: a dog purse. I didn't realize how many places were dog unfriendly, even when I was just passing through. I can't leave Remy alone (he screeches!) so he has to come with me, and this just makes things simpler. I never thought I'd be one of "those" people but, alas, owning small dogs does it.
