Noticed several people recommending a carpet mat. However, I've found that carpet compatible caster wheels are a much better solution. They are fairly inexpensive, roll better and protect your carpet. Plus, a mat that would work on plush carpeting has to be very thick and those can be quite expensive. Even worse though, when/if you move the mat it leaves an obvious discolored area of carpet...cleaner area that was under the mat no longer matches surrounding carpet. (Source: I've tried both)
Here are the ones I'm using currently.. They work pretty well.
However, I think I will try these next time. Seem like they would roll even better. But it just depends on the style you're looking for. Plus, you can just search for carpet caster wheels. There are many to chose from $20 to >$100.
