Yes, I used to own many of these things (including that one) before getting a aftermarket head unit. I've used cheaper plasticky looking ones too (sold on local gas stations for $5), and I can tell you that the quality of the signal you'll get depends more on the vehicle's ground isolation than the transmitter itself. It's a gamble, my car sounded excelent with this thing... almost no noise, my sister's car sounded like ass. Full of static and you had to crank up volume to the max. These transmitters are a temporal only solution. You'll get static from the speakers, sound quality won't be great, you might even hear taxis' CB radios from time to time (which was a lot of fun I won't lie. You could hear them and they could hear whatever you were playing).

I bought a decent JVC one from crutchfield because it was a decent deal with speakers bundled. I think speakers plus head unit ran me just over $100. However, I then noticed the Blaupunkt Toronto on amazon for $12 and thought “why the hell not?” and ordered it too.

Installed the JVC speakers and the cheap head unit and I’m pretty satisfied. The screen on the head unit stopped working pretty much the same day I installed it, but I just wanted Bluetooth and a volume knob so it doesn’t bother me and I never bothered to get amazon to send me a replacement. Otherwise works great, connects to my phone quickly, etc.

Main reason I went this route is I don’t have to give a shit about it getting stolen, both because of the cost as well as I think it looks very much like a stock unit. I actually love how it looks compared to most aftermarket head units.
