Have you ever read Born On A Blue Day by Daniel Tammet? He's a British autistic savant (high functioning) who experiences full synesthesia with numbers, where each number up to 10,000 or so has its own unique color, texture, and shape, which allowed him to memorize pi to 22,514 digits, among other things. Does your synesthesia occur in any setting other than listening to music? Has it allowed you to pull off any feats that would otherwise be impossible (eg memorizing a musical score based on the colors you see)?
