No. The 8-pin that splits into 4+4 is for the CPU.

Sometimes it works with just the 6-pin but not always. Assuming your PSU can supply enough watts through the 6-pin cable, you could use a 6 to 8-pin pcie adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BPP5F65/
If it can't, then you'd have to use a 2x6-pin to 8-pin pcie adapter: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N3T6C2K/
And if your PSU isn't powerful enough, replace it.

Seems like a high price for that card. I just built a system with a Radeon RX 580 8GB, which is a slightly better card, for like $180 (brand was XFX, but I know some like PowerColor can be found even cheaper). Big step up, but it's worth going ahead and doing that to future-proof yourself to some degree if you can afford it. I believe the promo deal for all ATI GPUs right now gives you free codes for The Division 2 and World War Z, so that may sweeten the pot for you in terms of ATI vs Nvidia. If you haven't seen it, the GPU hierarchy from Tom's Hardware is an invaluable resource.

The 6-pin/8-pin is not really an issue at all. That refers to the power supply, so that wouldn't be affected by your mobo. If your PS does not have 8-pin ports, you'll just need to pick up an adapter like this. Your PS probably came with one if you built your PC yourself.

Edit: Didn't see your edit. Regardless, hope that helps!
