I am a bit ADD, so I tend to read several books at once. I'm reading a Networking+ test guide, so I can take the test (hopefully). I'm also reading I Thought It Was Just Me by Brene Brown and am about to start Sex At Dawn.

That's off the top of my head. I have a bad habit of starting and not finishing books...

Start looking for a job now. See what employers are looking for now. Have a good resume and simply tell people what you want to do with your life. You'd be amazed what you can get by simply asking for it. You're older and have a degree. This can work to your advantage. I think it did for me. I was probably competing with kids.

Self-study or maybe community college. I did everything self-study.

A+ and Network+ are through www.comptia.org. You study and schedule to take tests at a testing center. Read the website. I think I'd start with A+ and Network+ if I had to do it again. These are the basics. Time? I don't know.

I read the first edition of this book AFTER I was already Network+ certified and I enjoyed it as well. (it came out just after I got certified) The first edition was very good.

Then the big question is what do you want to do?
Networks, Servers, Databases, Coding, What? The foundation is A+ and Network+. After that, you have to start specializing in something.
