A very good lawyer once gave me some profound advice (as it turns out it was about my sister whose husband had suddenly died at the age of 34):

> Don't make other people's problems your problems.

Here's why that's so profound. Look, you're going to have your own problems in your own life. Don't take on other peoples too (that's what psychologists are for). Be supportive. Listen and comfort. But don't own their problems. I remember him (the lawyer) talking about how he would encounter clients who couldn't afford rent or $2,500 bail. Amounts he could've easily paid for them, and never (NEVER) missed the money. But the reasoning for NOT helping them was simple. If you're constantly helping them, they'll never learn to take care of their own shit.

In this case, you're 100% correct. Your parents are enabling her shit (by letting her move in / getting involved).

To that effect there's an old saying, "If you help a friend in need they'll remember you ...

.
.
the next time they're in need."

Truth.

So here's my advice. Stay out of it. Stay way ... The. Fuck. Out. Of. It. Be supportive of your sister. But don't offer financial support. And definitely don't talk to (or offer to) talk to Molly or her family. Tell your sister to find a lawyer if she has to. Also, they make plastic sheet covers that are cheap and your sister should buy a couple (one for home and one for travel) - Link to Amazon Here My daughter had a similar issue way into her teens. We used one at home and at she had one to use at her best friend's house (their family knew) when she stayed the night. It's a decent Christmas gift idea.

Cheers and good luck.
