Here are my recommendations:

1) If you have a last-gen console, pick up the Deadpool game - it's completely faithful to the character. It was my first lengthy exposure to Deadpool, and it's fucking hilarious. I'd suggest the PC version for the best experience, but some deal with the publisher being bought or whatnot caused them to remove all of the online sales of it. It's cheap on last gen consoles.

2) Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe and Deadpool Killustrated.

3) A good intro to the character is this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wzcuh118f2s

Hope this helps.

Seriously. Get the game. It's fucking hilarious, and chopping people up is a lot of fun.

Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe
That's a sort of Halloween related thing plus I really want it.

u/CourtingEvil · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

I went through your book list and was excited to see Deadpool! So I took the liberty of choosing the hard copy of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe as your hardcopy entry.

u/anotherandomer · 2 pointsr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Cheapest - Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, I don't one any Deadpool comics, and I don't have a lot on my wishlist, I think this might even be the only Deadpool one on my list.

Most Expensive - Captain America: The Death of Captain America, now I love Captain America in the films, and I thought I might get some of the classic runs on the character, so this and Winter Soldier are on there.

Don't know if international people may join...

But I have a Deadpool comic in my list :)

A book

Frank and Beans!

I would do a happy dance if this showed up because I really, really like Deadpool. I'd normally go into my schpiel about how used books are awesome, but there's a one-cent difference between the cheapest used and new item (if you have PRIME) so your choice.

u/Averyce · 1 pointr/Random_Acts_Of_Amazon

Though I havent read it personally, Hawkeye has been recomendeded numerous times.

World War Hulk

Deadpool kils the marvel Universe was different.

Punk Rock Jesus is my friends all time favorite. And hes very comic minded.

I loved the Fables series. A bit long imo, but was an awesome story.

> I’ve never read a deadpool where he just decides this battle is too hard so he’s going to page 23 to avoid it.

Well there's Deadpool kills the marvel universe if you want that. Not canon though. This story is basically AU and takes place in a canon that's a lot denser and wackier than post silver age Batman usually is, which is part of the reason why Batmite doing this is okay.

Honestly Amazon is one of your best bets. There are a couple of other online stores which are good for comics.

Reed Comics has Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe for £7.50 here - for comparison it's £9.89 on Amazon

How much are you looking to spend on getting into the other titles? For X-Force I'd recommend Remender's Uncanny X-Force Omnibus Shit, that's rocketed in price - I knew I should have bought that before it sold out.

For Spidey, especially considering you enjoyed the 90's runs, I'd say get the Trouble on the Horizon trade as it's fairly recent, the stories in it are mostly short and it's generally quite fun compared to some of the grimmer, longer-running storylines. Also it doesn't require much background knowledge, except that at the start of the book Peter Parker is working at a sort of think-tank/research laboratory called Horizon Labs developing technology both for them and secretly to use himself as Spider-Man.

'Deadpool Kills...' is a fun jumping off point for Deadpool.

These three books: One, Two, Three.

u/Optimoprimo · 1 pointr/funny

Deadpool has no real background that's necessary to start reading his books, which makes him very accessible to new readers. His origin story is kind of fleshed out as he progressed. Check out the Deadpool hardcovers of the Joe Kelly series, Deadpool and Cable, or the current Marvel Now! run; they're the best of his series by far. He also has many short runs like Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe, which are just fantastic.

Edit: To be clear, I'm not saying he has no background, I'm saying it's not overly necessary to appreciate his comics.

Look at the sidebar, there's a recommended reading list (and the second rule is no asking where to start, there's "no linear story anyways." However, for tpb's that aren't on the list I'd recommend Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe and
Deadpool: Dead Presidents. Fun and over the top one shots that are quick and entertaining to read and touch on other characters in the MCU without getting really invested in them.
