I recommend the wood mod so much, to me they sound better the then the rs2 and almost on par with the rs1. I bought a more comfortable headband from here. I also got these G Cushion replacements. A lot of people complain about the comfort of Grados but with these two items I have no problem listening to them for 8 hours a day at work.

The mod itself I honestly just got lucky on the head-fi classified section. The guy was selling a brand new pair with the custom mod for 300 because he just acquired the gs1000s and his wife was going to kill him if he didn't sell some of his other headphones.

He made them out of Amboyna Burl.

Ear cushion replacements to ones like this one one with softer foam make a huge difference.

the only mods i'd recommend are just trying the different types of pads

regular bowls

salad bowls

flats

and bend the headband to suit your head

For $10, why not?

I bough the original Grado brand and I paid $20. I wish Amazon had these back then.

There's a knockoff G-Cush pad also available:

These ones are a cheap replacement that drastically improve the way the headphones sit on your ear. I really love the sound improvement too, though some say it made the bass less punchy. I disagree personally.

i just recently made a DIY upgrade to my ear pads on the 325is , check it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHRwwNjvb90

or you can get the g-cush pads, which are pretty cool in my opinion. http://www.amazon.com/Ear-Zonk-Replacement-Headphone-Cushion/dp/B00BW4RWH2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1406395002&sr=8-4&keywords=g-cush+pads

I have a pair of previous-generation SR-125. The original pads were a little different - open in the middle, more conical, but overall same size. They've long since gone to pieces.

I've replaced them with cheap Amazon replicas of the biggest pads that Grado uses on any of their phones. Those things are huge, about the same size as the LCD drivers. Super-comfortable too, since now the phones are essentially over-the-ear.

But they're definitely much less portable also.

Got the ear pads on Amazon:

How about these? They seem to have good reviews, would either that or this be a good option? Also, would either or both fit on the sr60s?

If you're still going to be using the SR225's I'd recommend looking at new cushions. I got the G-cushions and they completely changed my listening experience. Not that the sound changed, but they're so much more comfortable.
These are the ones I got and they fit great:

These. They're not the grado-specific ones, but they're $10 cheaper, have better reviews, and have been excellent for the couple of years I've had them. Might just be me, but with the large G-cush profile I've gotten even better soundstage out of my cans (already great with the grados given their open-back design. Enjoy being able to tell where absolutely everything is). The mids and highs stay strong compared to stock pads, but you might lose out on some bass compared to the flat-faced pads (S-cush) that I assume your 80s come with.

In terms of comfort: G-cush >> S-cush >>>>>> L-cush (the L-cush are painful, ok? lol). I have all 3 sets and after I got the G-cush, I've tried to compare to the older ones and they're just painful by comparison.

Note: I have a big head and glasses. Others might not have such a big improvement by switching to the G-cush from the S-cush.

^^^^But ^^^^if ^^^^you ^^^^have ^^^^the ^^^^L-cush ^^^^just ^^^^throw ^^^^them ^^^^away ^^^^and ^^^^order ^^^^a ^^^^G-cush ^^^^for ^^^^fuck's ^^^^sake ^^^^how ^^^^are ^^^^you ^^^^still ^^^^alive ^^^^under ^^^^all ^^^^that ^^^^pain?
