I agree with this for logistical reasons, as its hard to charge accurately with cans. But just so you know R134A is sold as computer air duster, and freeze spray among other things. In that context releasing it into the atmosphere is normal and how its designed to be used. Not advocating you vent your car (its illegal & not great for the planet), but if it should happen its not any different than using a can of air duster.

PS. If you don't believe its the same chemical check the MSDS. Wikipedia.

Bit of an anecdote but if you release R134A into the atmosphere from an AC system you'll can get slapped with up to $10k in fines. But many brands of compressed air duster are simply cans of R134A. It's perfectly legal in that application. Here is one such:
