The filter could work, but you should consider upgrading in the future to one that also holds clay like this (but the clay with holes in the center is better).
I purchased some filter media from amazon to add to my Tetra HOB. I just needed a small amount so I picked Fluval filter biomedia. For some reason, the box says to replace every 6 months. Is there something special to this bio media that they recommend doing so? I never replace filter media unless there is a physical or other reason to do so.
I am dosing my tank with a medication that suggests removing filter carbon. I have a Fluval U4 internal filter and have removed the carbon pads but it also contains this stuff. It's not quite the same as the ceramic rings you can buy I cannot find out what it is made of. Will I need to remove it for medication to work correctly or is it fine?
