Check out /r/roasting for how to roast your own beans. You can get green beans online for about half the price or less per pound of fancy-ass roasted coffee. Sweet Maria's is the place I use, but I've also had decent luck with some sellers on Amazon.

For roasting, you can do it in a pan on the stove, but this takes a bit of practice to get right. I started by removing the temperature controller in a popcorn maker (the West Bend Air Crazy), and this allows the popcorn maker to get hot enough to roast beans well.

If you have lots of disposable cash, I'd get something like this which allows you to set very precise temperature profiles which will really help you nail down specific flavours in your coffee.

No personal experience with one, but I recommend you read ALL the owner reviews at Amazon before ordering one. I've seen people say that the the "computer profiling" is kind of overkill on this sort of a machine and that the SR500 is the better value. Personally, I have several West Bend Poppery units (the original 1500W big Kahuna). They can also do 120 grams, and I pick them up whenever I see on at a thrift store, usually for under $5. Haven't burned one out yet, but if I do, I've got spares. :)
I'm planning a 1kg fluid bed roaster that will run on two heat gun elements and a Kirby vac motor for the blower. See the CoffeeAir II videos on YouTube for the general idea. I plan to put probes in for running Artisan. I can see doing profiling with a 1kg batch but a profile on a 120 gram batch just seems a little humorous to me. For that I use the Air Popper and roast it until 2nd crack is just started (about 15 seconds in) and dump onto an aluminum cookie sheet to cool. That's my profile for most beans. If I was doing Ethiopians I would roast it lighter and never let it get to 2nd crack. ENJOY FRESH-ROASTED COFFEE. done.
